Pipe Brand and Miles on it

OK what pipe are you using and how many miles on it, and any maintenance needed. Investigating to see if all brands require maintenance to keep their original sound.
Thanks, Jim

pipes

Since I've had my spyder i've tried several exhaust systems.I got 7200 mi.The first was the Micron.great performance but a tad too loud. The next was a muffler that a friend recommended that was made for those tuner cars.itwas a Masterflow 20in. w/2.25 inlet and made the clamp for it.It also was loud but looked cool and the performance matched the micron.Someone one this web recommended the Supertrap exhaust w/tuneable exhaust disks. You can tune the tone and the amt of back pressure.I currently have 5 discs in it and the sound is livable and the performance is great! In each case I used the NoMagicNeon header pipe and clamps. So far the supertrap is doing the job just fine after 300 mi.:doorag:

12 k with Hindle no maintenance except that I lost the sticker on the
Tail of the Dragon :doorag:

Micron, loud, good performance, had to repack glass as it was "blown" to the rear portion of the pipe by the big twin's pressure 9,000+ miles.

That would have been me. Glad you like it. BTW, it uses a ceramic blanket instead of fiberglass packing... should last a long time.

Leo Vince Pipe

I have the Leo Vince pipe from ken at evolution. I installed the pipe 4 months ago and it sounds really hot. Not to loud but loud enough and you can take the baffle out with the turn of a screw if you do in fact want the pipe louder but it sounds just right the way it is.. Rode with a few Harleys and they loved the sound coming from my exhaust. Great sounding pipe.

how many miles on it? getting louder or staying the same?

Spyder has 9500mi. Put Hindle on at 5000mi. Great sound, no issues. Rear tire will be next purchase.

I have over 5k on a glasspack ... sounds like a beast and i noticed much better performance.. It also only cost me $86.

question...

For those of you with Hindle, do you experience a little more power and is the gas mileage adversely affected? Here in MD the dealership said it'd pass exhaust inspection as my state is moving toward that for bikes (the great socialist union of MD...argh!)

I'm trying to get definitive answers on whether changing the pipe helps or hurts the mileage...

Also, want a pipe that needs NO maintenance ever...I hear some corrode and have other issues...

Thanks...

Hey Bonecrusher!
Never heard MD referred to as the great socialist union, but that is a good
way to put it. Moved to TN, much nicer here, not as crowded either, nicer people and not everyone is in a hurry. Not that there are not nice people
in MD, just a slower pace. I used to live between DC and Balto.

Two Brothas,,,,,I have about 4200 miles on it and love it....Hasnt gotten any louder.....But just this week....Im thinking it even went down in DB just a hair....Either that Or Ive lost more hearing.....Which.....Very well could be....:D

I'm between Baltimore and D.C. as well...a few miles off of I-95. To ride around here, we have to head off to Carroll or Frederick counties...lots more open road...too much traffic here...makes riding unsafe...

Oh, and this state is a socialist union...high closing taxes in the country...and our sales tax just went to 6% from 5%...that stunk when I got my Spyder!

I lived near Sykesville in Carroll County. I have to agree about the taxes and fees. TN has no income tax, property tax is about 1/3 of what I paid in MD. Only bad part is the sales tax, 9.5% except on things over $3K it is 7%. There are a lot of bikes in the area, lots of mountain roads and the Dragon's Tail is not too far away. Oh, and you cannot see what you are breathing, air is pretty clear most days.

Pics or more info on (glass pack) I'm old school and when you say glass pack I have visions of a cherry bomb or a Thrush pack muffler clamped on the side maybe even a little flex pipe:barf:so help a old man out with some explanation.

Also unrelated, Please keep on pipe topic in this thread:banghead:

Hindle as well

I have about 6500 miles on my Hindle and still sounds as good, and I am getting better gas mileage as well......
