• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

PICKELHEAD RT MOD

I did a DIY RT OEM MUFFLER MOD for Pickelhead this week....
after dissecting n gutting a nu '14 RT unit, i imbedded a glasspack muffler inside, wrapped it in it's OEM insulation blanket, made some other internal alterations, then had my son glue it all back together... after which i painted it, and reinstalled the 'heat shields'...
i powder coated the End Cap in a brite yellow/orange... which i will do on any other future mods...

can't wait for P'head to come by so i can install it and hear what it sounds like... my RS is a similar build, and sounds awesome compared to OEM... i'll keep u posted as to the results....

Well done..!!

it looks awesome. Would like pictures when you put it all back together...congrats..!! :2thumbs:

:clap: Question: Since you're putting fiberglass inside the canister; does that ever "burn out", like the old "Glass-packs" used to?
It looks amazing! :firstplace::2thumbs:
Can't wait for a video with SOUND!!

Bob;
the fiber glass wrap, is the OEM insulation... all i did was pull out the guts and reuse the blanket...
these mufflers are multi-walled units... you have the outter skin, which is what we all see... then there's the fiberglass insulation blanket, then there is and inside body, then all kinds of 180 deg. turn-arounds for sound serpression.... the entire unit, every part, is stainless steel... weighs 18 lbs in the OEM state, Pickelheads new muffler now weighs in at 14 lbs...
thx for asking...

Thanks for that explanation! :2thumbs:
I was pulling my information about "Glass-packs", from a bygone age! :opps:

CLARIFICATION time Bob....

the muffler i welded in, is an after-market GLASS PACK MUFFLER... then, i wrapped that glass pack muffler, with the fiber glass matt that came out of the OEM muffler...
the OEM glass matt is not there for sound purposes, but for insulation purposes...

hope this helps....

That powder coated tip is a nice touch:thumbup::thumbup:

POWDER COATING is the way to go.... if i can fit it in my oven, it'll be POWDER COATED..... i bit more expensive than paint, but the shine and durability far out-weighs the initial cost.....

Not yet, still employed by a CNC machine tool distributor. We do get to travel around some working on projects. The contract concept is getting more and more appealing each year.
