• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Permanent GPS mount

I have the "BRP" GPS mount and unit for my RT. I would love to find a way to permenantly-and safely-mount the GPS unit. Right now to remove it, all you do is push a button and off it comes. Has anyone come up with a secure way to hold the GPS in place? For now I remove it every time I park, which means I have no headset phone/radio for my helmet. This was not much of an issue in the warmer weather, but now with the "more sealed" full face helmet, it is very difficult to hear anything through the speakers without entertaining the entire neighborhood due to the volume having to be up so loud.

Don't know about the BRP unit, but I use the Garmin mount on the Kwelmetal bracket. With that system, there's a lock screw on the mount, which requires a special screwdriver.

This is the same system I used for years on my BMW K1200LT, and never had a loss or problem..

You must have been reading my mind... I was going to ask if the Kewlmetal bracket would work well in this application and circumstance. Thanks! :2thumbs:

I would hardily ditto the Kewlmetal bracket comments. My very first "mod" to my RT-S was to get one of these brackets put on. I use it and love it! :D:yes::D

zumo 660 mount...

Although not as "clean looking" as the BRP bracket, the Kewlmetal bracket works well... I used one on my RT. However, In order to lock the GPS unit onto the RT, you will need to purchase a locking mount like the one I mentioned in an earlier post.

I have the TOURATECH Zumo 660 / 665 Locking GPS Mount Kit on my RT-S and would recommend it because it not only locks the GPS unit to the bike (using a key) but allows it to be removed for use/storage as well. A bit of a pain to install (poor directions) but worth it. :2thumbs:

The lock screw on the Garmin mount has served me well for years (various units) - cheap (read free), easy to use, no key required, and you'll break the GPS trying to rip it out. But then again, where I ride, you can avoid people altogether for days at a time…..

Bought the Touratech-BIG disappointment

I finally purchased the Touratech locking mount, and for over $100.00 it provides virtually no security.

It would take less than 5 seconds to snap the top of the mount off and remove the GPS unit. The thin bendable aluminum, and cheap rivet construction means that I might as well simply leave it unlocked.

Perhaps a RAM mount of some sort, or continuing to do what I have been-removing it every time I leave the Spyder alone is the only secure solution for the $600.00 Zumo 660.
