• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Penny is almost on the road again

Posted this earlier on the welcome members thread...Placed a deposit today on a 2020 Limited RT and once the accessories are in place Penny will be back on the road again.

Rick aka Pennyrick

We’re signing on with a new user name but we are not new to Spyderlovers. When Penny traded her Suzuki Burgman for a 2010 RTS back in late 2009 we joined up under the user name of ”double trouble.” In 2011 I traded from a Gold Wing to an RT SM.

Then in 2012 we both moved to RT Limiteds. We toured extensively throughout the US and Canada but in 2015 penny began to feel ill on trip through Virginia. We put Penny’s rig on a flatbed, doubled up and headed home. The diagnosis was pancreatic cancer. The outlook was dim. After 80 hours of Chemo, she came home to a Hospice. We sold both Spyders.

Then, I had a stroke, followed by a triple by-pass...and 2016 was a bad dream.

In 2019, miraculously, Penny got better. Last month she dreamt of riding a Spyder. Last weekend we looked at 2020 RT’s...she plans to test drive a Limited and we will probably get her on a bike again. I will be content to be a passenger this time round.

Looking forward to the next trips.

Very glad to hear you are back with us.
Keep the faith and enjoy being a passenger.

I'm glad you're back in the saddle again and both of you are feeling better. I had a triple-bypass 2 weeks after buying our Spyder in Nov. of 2018 and Dr wouldn't let me even work on it for 3 months :banghead:. But you'll be able to take lotsa videos/pics while pillioning.

Glad to read this and hope you both have many riding years ahead. Life unpredictable so grab all you can when you can!

An option, if you want to follow up on it, is to send an email to AnthonyG, head honcho of the forum, and ask him to change your old username. That will change it on your previous posts and that will keep all your posts under one username. Use the contact us link at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we’ll stay with the present handle. You mentioned AnthonyG as head honcho but I thought this was Lamont Bryden’s board. We have known Lamont since his days in Tennessee. I assume he is still active. He is too ornery to retire. :2thumbs:

BTW... we closed on the new RT limited this morning. Once comfort seat, shorty handle bars, rider backrest and axillary lighting is installed Penny will be tearIng up those north Georgia mountain roads.

I wasn't suggesting you change your current handle, just that the handle attached to your past posts could be changed to your current one. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Anthony took over managing the web site when about 2 or 3 years ago Lamont had some serious health issues that almost ended his career as a human. He seriously considered ending SL but his friend Anthony stepped in and took over. So Lamont still owns the site and has the final say but Anthony is the day to day chief operator. Fortunately, Lamont is back in pretty good health and active in all things Spyder, plus other stuff as I understand!
