• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bout a phantom rs a week ago and my girlfriend does not like to hold the passenger grips. Is it ok if she wrap her arms around me she feels safe that way because when I hit the gas the bike jerks and she lifts up from the seat. Anyone ride like this?

Maybe She'll feel more computable holding on to the grips with a back rest.:dontknow:
That will hold her on the seat .

It is not recommended. The grips are much safer for a vehicle that doesn't lean. Perhaps you need to be a little gentler and smoother on the gas when she is aboard. I would also suggest getting her a backrest. It does wonders for the passenger's feeling of security.

BTW, :welcome:

I agree !!!!!!!! Holly will never ride without a backrest. nojoke The Spyder is alot harder on a passenger than any two wheeler.

Backrest and Armrests ! She will fall asleep back there. When we had this set-up on our RS the wife would read her Kindle or fall asleep on those long rides.

Thanks guys, is the back rest easily removed because that thing is ugly to me.

The backrest removes in 15 seconds or less !!! A cool plate goes in it's place. It's expensive but totally worth it.

Jerks

About the jerking, I have never had any motorcycle experience so I am teaching myself how to ride. Don't worry I only took her around the block twice

It looks like this with and without it . When I ride alone, the backrest ALWAYS comes off. :doorag:

:agree: It is a very worthwhile saftey addition for the passenger. I would not allow my wife to ride without one at any real speed.

Like arntufun stated it comes on and off quickly. Lift the seat, pull a knob, tilt seat forward, lift off.

Ride safe and enjoy!

I have the woman that rides with me, hang onto me. That way she naturally leans into the corners with me and it also let's me know she is still there. Course I haven't taken any on long trips.

heres the way to go if you care for her,she will love you for it.:chat:

Bu tthere is something to be said about having that "special someone" wrapping their arms around you and holding you tight...

But the backrest is more secure...

Suggestion....

I installed a Corbin trunk as a backrest, and purchased the Corbin backrest for myself(I've got the two piece Corbin seat).... It's the high backrest with room for her legs. That way, my wife leans back onthe trunk, but can hold onto the backrest. It also keeps her from sliding too far forward. The armrests didn't work for her at all...

I had the Corbin setup on the 2008--that worked very well for both driver and passenger backrest. I have to be able to move around because of joint pain issues--I would not be able to drive far with someone hanging on to me the whole time. :(
