• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger hand holds

As the question asked, "Why do you want to take them off?" They are there for a purpose...SAFETY! With the Spyder not being a leaning machine, the passenger has to lean. The bars are there for the passenger's safety. Before you take them off, take a ride as a passenger with an experienced Spyder rider, then see if it makes sense to remove them.

No where in my first post does it say I was taking them off.I simply asked if anyone had.Also, until someone else is making my payments for me,what I do with my bike is my choice.

Chill, get a cup of coffee. Do whatever you want with the Spyder. I was just pointing out the safety reasons for the passenger handlebars.

while in Gatlinburg met a fellow Steve spyder#353 He had cut the hand rails of and fill & painted them black. They looked great and looked like they came with the bike.

I did, and like the sleek look. I marked the bars top and bottom. I used the seat as a guide line. The plastic is waffled inside the cut. Fill in the waffle with bondo or 2 part epoxy. Sand and paint. I'll try to pm you a pic of my bike. Never mind I got the pic posted

There is currently another thread discussing the tone we take with one another. I think this is a great example of a post sounding condescending and somewhat insulting to a person that is innocently bouncing ideas off of a group that has been, otherwise, helpful. Capitalizing all of the letters, along with the exclamation point, are the same as yelling at this person. If he solicits an opinion--which he has--then post your ideas without sounding as though you are scolding him. :chat: We all frequent this site in the interest of hearing and sharing of new ideas, not to see a grumpy old man point out our poor judgement. nojoke

Well said. :agree::thumbup:

My hand bars have been off for about a year now. Only two people have noticed they were gone and asked me about them. Only 2 notice out of thousands. So what is all the hype about. Only the person riding on the back uses them. I ride solo. I would rather have her hold onto me than the bars any day. Call it old school if you want. Maybe if one was to have another guy as a passenger. Then the hand bars are OK I guess.

Well, I'll tell you what. You want to call me a grumpy old man, have at it. If one cannot understand my concern for another Spyder rider's safety, knock yourself out and get yourself hurt or killed. After all, it's your life and your Spyder. He asked for an opinion and I gave it to him. If he doesn't like my answer, then he shouldn't ask. And my capitals and exclamation point was in no way scolding him, but was meant as an important point. Take it anyway you want to, I have had my say about this thread.

Maybe some of us have earned the right to be grumpy old men:D (wisdom and logic often comes with age and experience):f_spider:
