There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Passenger and performance

Getting ready to buy a 2018 0r 19 F3s. Question, does adding a passenger to this machine effect performance much. My wife (passenger) weighs about 115 lbs. I know adding any weigh can have some effect, just wanted to know how much. Doesn't have a lot of effect on my F6B but that's a different animal. Also for those that own one how has the reliability been. Thanks

Of course it will, but you will hardly notice it. My girlfriend is 5' & about 115 lbs. also. Don't even know she's behind me. I do plan on upgrading the rear oem shock someday though for piece of mind...…...

Of course, it does.....! When you add a "speed and performance cop" to the pilon, your ability to maximize the machines' capability is much reduced. (ie; "Slow this thing down.....blah, blah, blah..... ") :joke::joke::joke: :roflblack: ..... Jim

I pull a loaded trailer and have my wife on the back (more than 115lbs, but I value my life so won't say). With the 1330ACE it has SO much torque you won't notice. However - in the twisties I do notice more dipping in the front going into curves riding 2-up. Planning on a sway bar upgrade should tighten that up. With your petite wife though, like everyone has said you won't even notice.

Truthfully, hardly noticeable for me (on my F3-S) except for handling.

The nanny will hit the brakes on every tight curve or when doing the twisties more aggressively.

Weight & performance ….. In the racing community where Every advantage is optimized …. before they spend hugh amounts of money on / for any type of Power Adder. … They will reduce the weight as much as legally & safely as possible …. Yes I know you aren't talking about actually racing your Spyder …. but the same physical rules apply …. 115 lbs. will not be noticed during normal operation …. however when you try accelerating quickly ( as in passing ) any weight will more noticed ….. and the more the weight, the more it will be noticed …. so you decide what right for you under the conditions you ride at …………. PS, weight will also be felt when stopping …. Any RT can pull a trailer with say 500 to 600 lbs without much strain … ( yes I know the limit is 400 lbs ), but Stopping that load / weight is going to be the real problem ….Un-less the trailer has it's own braking system …. this info is the best answer I can think of …. good luck … Mike :ohyea:

Pilon sirens and sore ribs aside, I think there is very little difference riding 2-up -vs- single. I usually ride solo. I have toured over 10,000 miles with a friend who always rides 2-up. We are all "large" people. My friend, Ken and I weigh about the same and I am guessing his wife comes in at about 200#s. We both pull trailers when touring and both bikes are 1330 RTLs. The only difference in loads is his spouse. We usually compare fuel usage at fuel stops. I will usually have slightly better MPG than Ken but the difference is very small. We're talking nickles and dimes, not dollars..... Jim

I upgraded my shocks to Elka stage 2 all the way around. one reason for when my wife rides. Don't care how much or how little your passengers weigh the upgraded shocks make a very much noticeable difference.

As Newtons second law states Force =Mass X Acceleration ; and therefore Acceleration = Force/Mass

With a given force (hhp available) the acceleration will increase proportionally to a decrease in total mass moved like Mike said. If your talking an RT think 1000 lbs plus fuel, plus rider, plus passenger or 1000 lbs plus 40 lbs plus 200 lbs plus 120 lbs = 1360 lbs. hypothetically. If you lose 35 lbs fuel, the passenger and go on a diet, you could reduce the mass by 185 lbs for example -- a mass improvement of 185/1360 = 13.6 percent OR .68 seconds on that 5 second pass... theoretically of course:ohyea:

It is hardly a racing machine so you won't notice her weight. What you may notice is the stock sway bar will cause more lean as weight increases. Most people change to the Baja Ron sway bar to correct that anyway.

Thanks, ya I plan on changing that and also the shocks. BTW does anyone know why the 2017,18,and 19 f3s weight 50 pounds more than the 2015, and 16,s weigh?
