Part stuck on Back order - any ideas on how to escalate?

Hello,

Is anyone else stuck in back-order jail?

I bought my 2010 RTS new as soon as they were at the dealership. I have a matching BRP trailer that is sooo much better then the ones they make now.

In August of 2022 I dropped my Spyder off with my trusted mechanic and it was diagnosed with a Throttle Body issue. He suggested getting a new one and I agreed as I prefer to replace at this point (12 year old parts).

8 months later the part has not arrived. BRP only says "it's on backorder". I reached out through their customer service channel and surprise! I was told it's on back-order...several weeks after reaching out. They did give me the name of two dealerships out of my state that might have one in stock. We called and nope no Throttle Body.

Any suggestions on how I can escalate this at BRP to at least get some idea on when/if the part is being manufactured? My bike is sitting on the dealer's showroom floor since that's the only secure place they have.

Thank you and Ryde Safe,

Please keep us informed as you go. Thank you.

A throttle body for a 2010 is not going to be a high priority unless you keep on it. Be nice though...if they get ticked off, not good for you.

If you have not tried already, give Lamonster Garage in Nixa a try.

Just as a thought, I've seen quite a few early Spyder Throttle Bodies that various Dealers said absolutely HAD to be replaced with new come up quite well and end up working fine for many more years with JUST a good clean - some didn't even need to come off the bike, just sprayed cleaner liberally on them in situ!

So maybe 'replacing with new' is juuust a little over-kill; or at the very least there's the possibility that you could still be riding it after a good clean while you wait for the part, however long that might take &/or IF BRP are even still supporting your Spyder?? :dontknow:

Just Sayin' - Good Luck!

:agree: 110% .... finding a 13 year old part for an engine that was Dis-continued 7 years ago :gaah:good luck, Find someone that specializes in cleaning fuel injectors, they have the chemicals to do the job right .... good luck .... Mike

The above info is the best you'll ever get. Those of us who have 10 year old rides will likely end up in the same boat you're in now. Almost anything like toys may no longer have OEM parts available. If you can't locate OEM or after market, try salvage. Wishing you good luck.

Another vote at least attempt good deep clean:thumbup: :popcorn:nojoke Checked on mine today, been in shop quite long ;initially was warped heads (after water pump impeller broke), machine shop fixed heads, then hurry to wait on rings & shims. Got to point the tech recently promoted to manger : just bought shims off amazon (Cheaper & faster). Getting it back together & some pin on timing chain pulley snaps:banghead: so right there with ya - long overdue wind therapy (& still not random violence like some others ,even with TBI they don’t have)
**note compounding time frame; down for impeller, got back maybe a week then heads, among other “delays” https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums...ler-anyone-good-at-frame-amp-f-glass-repairs-! .
