• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

PARKING PERMITS FOR ALL THREE WHEEL AND TWO WHEEL. MOTORCYCLES

RE: Handicapped Stickers I have one for my car which is a hang tag on the mirror. I also have a separate one which I made a two sided copy of. That goes in a plastic bag and folds nicely on my Spyder's windshield. I affix it with a pair of clothes pins. I have never had anyone steal the tag--but also am pretty careful where I park.

To obtain a HC sticker in AK: You must fill out a medical form which has to be signed by a physician. They can be six months or permanant (three year) versions. They then have to be renewed.

The state has license plates for cars also. They used to have a HC sticker that you could affix to motorcycle plates--but that has been discontinued.

RE: Use of HC parking etc. There are a lot of people that abuse the system. Using anothers HC tag or vehicle in order to get close in parking--joy riding in mobility carts in grocery stores etc. Since I have had to use HC stuff I have become very aware of what HC people go through. I cannot walk more than 50 ft now without having to sit down. If I could :cus: walk right, I surely would relinquish the use of all the HC "priviledges".

I now own my very own walker--for help in getting around my house. When I went to Vegas in December, I had to use a rented wheel-chair to get around from place to place for the first time. I also own a wheel chair now at home. Once again, I would gladly trade these off if I could :cus: get around properly. There are a lot of people far worse off than I, so I try not to criticize anyone concerning this subject. Many times I have had to abort a shopping trip because all the close in parking places were in use, the mobility carts were either all in use, or not properly charged up. Even little things like trying to navigate a cart in a closely packed aisle, having people abruptly stop in front of you, or not pay attention and walk right in front of you when going down the aisle. The issues go on and on--but I am sure you have more than got the idea.

Just suggesting that those who have not had these issues, do not be to critical of those who do.

There's a special place in hell reserved for HC parking spot abusers. May their car doors be keyed and they slip in a pool of their own poop.

That said, I used to work in a facility that issued parking tags to hang off mirrors. When I told them I rode a motorcycle they shrugged their shoulders and said sorry. I found the solution in the form of a piece of clear adhesive vinyl. Just sandwiched the parking tag (with the hook cut off) between it and the inside of the windshield, like a window sticker. Problem solved.

Not going to make too many friends with this, But the handicap spots should be at the back of the lot,
Most can use the excise anyway. And don't get me started with those electric shopping carts for the overweight .

I know that there is a lot of abuse of the handicap stickers and it steams me when I see someone park in a HC spot and jump out of the car and sprint into the store :gaah: I however do have a handicap placard because I had polio and have limited mobility, parking as close as I can to the door really helps!! I made a two sided copy of my placard and put it on the Spyder so if it is stolen I still have the original. The Spyder is a great bike for those of us physical limitations.

I went to the state and applied for a handicapped plate as my wife is permanently handicapped. We have a plate on her van plus a placard for my car. I was denied a plate for the Spyder because it is titled in out trust's name and not my wife. They said they can oly issue to the registered owner.

Depending on where we go I have a felt lined clip that I attach to the windshield. So far no one has taken it.

You need a bit of sensitivity training. My wife has primary progressive multiple sclerosis and can walk about 10 feet with a cane and her functional electronic simulator on her bad leg. Exercise is NOT an option, nerves are dead.

If you noticed i said ''MOST'' I Did not say all,. You can't say that there aren't a lot of people that have no need for those permits, They just use them because they feel entitled.
And this is the last I'll say on this subject.......

A friend of mine whose sister has a child that is handicapped has a hang tag for her car because of the child. My friend and her sister think it is ok to use this tag when her child is not with her and I told her that if no one in the vehicle is handicapped then using the tag is an abuse, and we got into a long discussion about this and in the end nobody changed their mind.

I attended a seminar for the handi-capped Olympic athletes. The woman who spoke she they view the audience as T.A.P.s Temporary Abled Persons. Because one day, because of an accident or old age you too will become disabled, to some degree.

I thought that was a pretty good insight to the human condition.

Handicapped card or plate

I've had a few back operations, plus a ton of arthritis and the doctor signed the form and I have a plate for the Spyder. The cards you hang are good for 5 years at no charge.
The plate you have to pay for (regular $ for it) unless you're 100% disabled by the V.A. No thanks for that status, 60% is bad enough. I use the priviledge if I'm having a bad day, but normally park in regular spots. I originally made a copy of the card and wrote "do not steal this, it's only a copy" and had it plasticized. Some dork stole it after a couple years.
As for the remarks from the NJ guy, I hope you never have the need for one of these items, and if you do, that it serves you well, even though you're a ..............
Tuck

My wife is permanently disabled and has a handicap plate on the car. She is able to ride with me on the Spyder so I thought I would get a plate for her. The state denied us because she's only allowed to have one disabled plate. Told to use the hang tag when on the Spyder. Gotta love government logic.
