This a factory paid modification but only if your Spyder is within the released VIN range and you have experienced the symptoms. The bulletin number is 2008-3 and was released on 8/12/2008

BRP listed 14 models for the 2008 Spyder. Shoot me your VIN and I'll run it on their system.

A salesperson I spoke with in Wisconsin told me that there would either be a recall or announcement from BRP soon, I didn't think it would be THIS soon! Good to know the manufacturer is taking care of the problem!

A couple days ago I started experiencing a sticking parking brake. It wouldn't completely disengage; that is, the parking brake light stayed on after disengaging it; a little kick inward on the pedal worked.

To fix it, I sprayed the parking brake mechanism with Silicone spray. It now engages and disengages very smoothly.

I'm going to talk with my dealer about this for both mine and my wife's Spyder. Neither one of our parking brakes have worked very good from day 1.

When i picked my spyder up from its first service my dealer said that they are waiting on the parts to perform this maintance/recall. Once the part arrives i'll be having it done to my SE5

There is no point in me checking your VIN numbers as no units say they require this campaign to be performed. Only the units that are experiencing a concern with the parking brake releasing will need this update.

If there's no more cable adjustment left, you'll have to unbolt the lever and reposition it.:thumbup:

Karla is having the same issue. I will ask when I am at the dealer this weekend and see if they have the replacement parts yet.

Also when the parking brake is engaged I can still easily push the bike. *sigh*

If you have push the pedal down more than a few clicks to engage it, you will need to adjust the cable. Had the same problem, and adjustment cured it.
