There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Parking Brake Problem - Resolved

Yea, but wouldn't you expect the 'new' spring to be factory installed on the 2012 models if the dealers were fixing 2011's and earlier last year? This was my point, BRP hasn't put any effort into a real solution. If a similar percentage of people had parking break issues on their new F150's or Cameros over the same period of time don't you think Ford or GM would have solved it already?

That was the real solution. Chances are your's was just out of adjustment.

My thought is the rear parking brake hub spring pulls the cable on to the hub, not the front pulley pushing the cable back, if the spring is weak or the cable is not adjusted properly this would cause the front cable to jump off the pulley.

Those are my thoughts, too. There is a recall on my 2011 RT to fit a stronger wind-back spring. I have no idea how much stronger it will be but I've been told by my dealer that this is a fix to stop the front of the cable jumping off its pulley. Theory being that if the rear spring is beefed-up the front of the cable will stay on its pulley without the need for security ties, etc.. :ani29:

Im having an issue with my RS, in that when I drop the parking brake, the system says its on, however, my brake is not engaged, at all. Could the problem be similar to this?

Thanks!

ZRC....I have a 2009 GS Se5 and my parking brake wasn't locking down...I talked to the tech in Durango and he said to spray the heck out of the locking pin on the pedal linkage..I did that and it didn't help...I removed the cover and it looks like the bushing is gone out of the "paw" that engages the teeth on the linkage "ratchet"...Part #34 on the BRP parts website under "rear brake" or

I am noting this is an older thread. My dealer said there is a warranty fix for this problem. It will be part of three updates the dealer is going to do on the new 2011 when I bring it in for 600 miles service on Thursday.

My 2012 RT with 8K miles just developed this problem. It had sat for months and developed an issue setting the parking break. I surmise that the caliper stuck and the cable developed a loop and slipped off the pulley when I attempted to release it. Resetting it was easy, see the notes above and U-TUBE. I opted to wire it in place to prevent it from re-occurring. See the picture. Use care when drilling, it needs to be placed below the wire groove and above the gears on the backside.
