• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking brake light comes on & brakes lock up - UPDATE!

Sounds like some are talking about their Spyder's locking up the parking brake while they are riding down the road at 50 mph or more. Others talking about their Spyder's parking brake locking up when it parked and they use their 12 mil. wrench to take off the cable so they can still ride.

For the Parking Brake staying locked up, some had their parking brake motor replaced and no more trouble; others had their parking brake switch replaced, no more problems; while others adjusted the tension of the parking brake cable and no more trouble.

No idea what you would do if it locked up while riding. I hit the parking brake button when riding and nothing happened cause of the safety built into the Spyder to keep the parking brake from working at speeds above 6 mph.

Oh well, I'm lost in the different ways that are being talked about in this thread of parking brake locking up while riding at speed or whatever they're talking about. My 2 cents worth of unknown knowledge.

The bulletin was all about replacing the parking brake motor. Maybe do that first. Print this out for them.

How can I order parts directly from Cam Am and not the dealer? I am capable of doing the replacement and maybe save some money, or keep using the wood block and forget about it.
I am very disgusted with Cam Am and the quality of their products.
In my previous 2011 RT the engine self-destroyed and started showing metal pieces in the oil and I traded it in. Let the dealer deal with it!

I don't want to question the authenticity or possibility of the parking brake engaging by itself, and I am very sorry for the wreck that apparently occurred to the gentleman. Hope that he recovered completely. Very Sad.

Hey OT51 - On-line parts suppliers usually sell the parts at MSRP like the dealer. If I just want to look at an exploded parts diagram and find a part number, I go straight to the source below. Once I have the part number, sometimes a dealer has an eBay or Amazon store and you can score free shipping.

If I want a one-stop-shop, where you can find the part and order it, I usually go here. The yellow color scheme is a bit hard to deal with sometimes. Just my eyes.

At either place, you just have to navigate and drill down through the menus until you get to the year, model, and parts diagram that you need. It takes some practice getting used to which diagrams will show which parts, but after a while, it just becomes part of the deal.

If you do change the motor yourself and remove the front cable pulley in the process, ensure that you replace the pulley in the exact same orientation and shaft spline that you removed it from. Otherwise, you'll need BUDS in order to cycle the motor and place the pulley at its reference position. Good Luck.
