• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My wifes 2011 RT has sat for a few months. When I tried to start it, battery was dead. I put a trickle charge on for a couple of days. Battery shows full charges. When I turn key to on, the display just flashes off and on. Will not start. I want to trailer it to dealer, but park brake is set and I can't release it to pull up on trailer. Can I manually release park brake?

What exactly is leading you to believe that the battery is holding a full charge ?

I suspect that it's shot and just the load of the ignition is dragging the voltage WAY down.

You might be able to get it started with a "full size" charger connected......or jumped from another good battery.

TRY THIS

Put some jumper cables from your car/trk onto the Spyder .... DO NOT START THE CAR/TRK ..... turn the Spyder Key re-lease the brake ...... The Spyder may even start after two or three minutes ....... Mike

Parking Brake

I agree; pull the battery, take it to Battery + or your dealer or a local auto parts store and have them load test it; suspect that you just need a new battery. Trickle chargers and maintainers are not meant to rejuvenate dead or badly discharged batteries. If that's the original battery you have more than gotten your money's worth from it!!!:lecturef_smilie:

I did try a big charger with a "Jump" setting that is supposed to be able to start a car. Same results. Even our local dealer said to try jumping from another vehicle. I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for the replies.

Back on the road!

I first tried jumping the Spyder with my truck. All the display came up normally. I could release the park brake. After about 40 minutes of being jumped, it still wouldn't start. When starter button was pressed, a loud clicking could be heard and display flashes on and off. I took the battery out (They could have made it harder) and took to Batteries plus. It has 3 shorted cells. I purchased new Delco, installed, and bike is now running normal.
