• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Panel removal?

I cannot figure out how to remove the panel just forward of the key switch panel that surrounds the steering head (under the handlebars). I have removed the access panels, and then the side panels but there is another panel that covers a screw for the panel I need to get to. I have searched for directions on how to remove the panels on a F3 but nothing seams to cover these panels,

NOTE: The first picture is the panel that I cannot figure out how to get the rear tab to remove (I have seen a video on you tube but the panel does not unlock like the video?) The second picture is the center panel that I believe can be removed once I remove the outer panel in the first picture?

Assuming you have a F3 or F3s, and you are referring to the panel in front of the handle bar mount. That is a one piece that goes all the way to the front and the gage is attached at the bottom. What I have done is remove the small nose piece (one screw at the bottom by the removable cover just under the funck edge. The top is a snap in) and than removed the 3 screws on each side of the brackets that the gage is attached to. Than you can move the whole assembly out of the way.

The first picture - the panel you are pointing to I now call the "You're breaking it!" panel. This video from Sling Mods makes it look super simple to pull out. at 2:00 minute mark if it doesn't load there - https://youtu.be/WonVnHhR13U?t=120

When I just did it last Saturday - I had 2 people. First, make sure you have the 3 pins around the front out. then I had a buddy pull the front out and away from the Spyder while I squeezed my fingers around the back side of that panel - where you state you can't figure out how to make it come loose - and just pull very hard! It's scary - and it makes a very loud "cracking" sound when it lets go. It's literally a plastic tab that pushes into another plastic tab. Super scary - but I messed up re-assembly - and had to remove it again - so I removed one side twice and one side once - it doesn't break - but it sure sounds like it.

As for re-assembly - pay very very close attention to things. The tab that's holding it is not the only issue. On reassembly - there is a tiny little slit closer to the tank that needs lined up first. If you don't line that up first - that doesn't sit down in right and the back of the panel will be raised up.

Hope this makes sense and helps.

Also - if you pause the video at 2:03 - you can see the plastic tab holder thing that is fighting you. It's stout - just annoying.

Thank you so much. I have to agree with you on the 'your breaking it" panel. It came off exactly how you described it.

Thanks again
John

]Now to just figure out a wiring problem I had (posted in another thread)

Thanks again
John

Sounds absolutely terrible - doesn't it?

I'm working till 9pm so can take my F3T apart to check your wiring problem. Hope someone else can hook you up there.

I installed heated grips on my 2019 F3-T and had to remove that panel on the right side to access the power supply as well as the fly-by-wire throttle cable. These come off easier (and safer too) when the forward portion of the panels are rotated outward and allowed to pivot somewhat on those two tabs near the rear. There' a video out there somewhere on this but I don't remember where.
