• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Paint Job

I was just quoted at 3k for a two-tone repaint. The guy said it was more like doing a car than a bike. Anyone else get a quote yet? Seems high to me but the guy is the guy in West Michigan for custom paint jobs.

Are you still planning on repainting your Spyder since you got the red one?

No way. I originally ordered the red before they told me it would be fall. I couldn't wait that long for my baby so I opted for Full Moon before this became available. Worked out perfectly!

$2,300 for this job.

3K is not out of line depending on what you get. This was 6K but the guy gave me a deal to promote his biz. Still it was worth it seeing there was 17 coats on it and prep between each coat. :doorag:

The paint is metal flake but does not show up in the pictures. I may need a better camera. The color is Candy Brandy Wine from House of Color. You're looking at five coats. I'll try today in the sun for a close up.

Unless you are doing something WILD - I just don't get $3,000 for painting one of these - considering all the panels pop off - this should be a pretty easy job.

Can I ask where in West Michigan - as that is where I live. I have a client that does paint - and is incredible. I know guys that won't let anyone else touch their car or bike.

If you can get five coats of hand rubbed metal flake for less then $2,300. There are a total of three coats, base coat, then the white pearl, then the metal flake. Then do it all over again four more times. Paint cost was $900.00 alone. Spyder # 114 John :dontknow:

Well - I've never had any metal flakes after hand rubbing--- ;D

I was assuming a simple spray job. I don't know about anything with metal flakes or other stuff. I thought he was interested in the BRP red color.

I was looking for a simple two tone with some clear coat. The gentlemen was called "The Whiz" and he was booked through July back in February.

Now that I have the red though, I'm golden.
