• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

P0707 Code

The other day I was out 111 degree temp going home from work when the instrument panel flashed between the "5" and "E" Then it started with check engine light. No limp mode. Figured it was based on the heat. So I let it cool and went back out later and there didn't seem to be any problems. So yesterday drove to Hollister (75 miles) to check out all of the bikes and got back with no real problems. Decide to drive out to Lockwood/Bradley & visit a friend. Leave King City 75 degrees and 45 mile ride the temp jumps up to 95. Now the code P0707 is showing up, then the check engine light is flashing. Now for panic time. Park it at the Lockwood store. (Population 375?). Call the wife to come and get me as I can't find any info in the tablet I brought with the service manual.
So she comes out to pick me up...not happy...and we return home. Fire up computer and look on SL. Do a search and lo and behold, someone else has had the same problem and looks like heat exasperates the problem. Not including the fact that the code is not in the book. But my initial scan of the thread has me asking why the gps map appliance has an affect on this. (I DO NOT DO MECHANICS). I then realize that the problem is gearbox position sensor and it appears that it can be installed without the use of buds. I call the guy who has done all of the non-buds servicing and he seems confident that it is a minor problem.
Well he wasn't stuck in Lockwood forced to call the wife to come and get me and then turn around and go back when it was cooler and drive it back into town.
The reason for the story is another satisfied customer of this website and the people on here who have; been there, done that, and got the tshirt. I spend most of my time looking and listening to what everyone says here and it has saved me a ton of time and money. I also avoided the prospect of having to get a tow truck take my spyder to the nearest dealer for repairs. 185 miles to Sunnyvale. I realize I am not completely out of the woods till the gps is replaced and there are no more codes. But I do feel a lot better and have reconsidered my thought to just sell the thing and stick with my car for transportation.

P0707 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Low Input

This is a generic code. You are correct, the manual doen't list it. It indicates a bad neutral switch (or connection) in most vehicles. I would suspect either a faulty GPS on the Spyder, a bad GPS connection, a low battery, or a bad battery or frame ground connection. There is no reason to be towed in if you have just a check engine light. Some problems that previously caused limp mode merely turn on the check engine light since last year's firmware updates. BRP is trying to make things less troublesome. I can understand not wanting to ride 185 miles in limp mode (although it would certainly be possible), but to "panic" just because the check engine light is lit is a bit much. You wouldn't park your car just because the check engine light came on when it was time to replace your O2 sensor, would you?
