2015 RTS SE - Coming home from work on Wednesday, looked down to see a LIMP HOME on the screen. Looked back up, then back down, now gone. Looked up, then back down, now see the check engine icon. This continued the next 2 miles to home.
Shut down and pulled key. Dinner, searched the forum for some info, gave up and went to bed. Next morning on the way to work, check engine icon going on and off every 10 - 15 seconds. It's only 3-1/2 miles to work so I wasn't worried. When I got to work, before turning off the engine, I did the three button shuffle to pull the code and got a P0340, Crankshaft Position Sensor (love my SpyderCodes app). Took a photo of the screen. Called dealer who is only 3 - 4 miles away and made arrangements to drop bike off after work. Got another Limp Home display on the way to the dealer. Note: At no time did I ever have any reduced engine performance. Everything was on the display only.
Friday - Dealer says they need to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Waiting for parts, hoping for mid next week.
Question: Bike about due for oil change. Have everything from Baja Ron ready to do this but was thinking, if they are taking a bunch of tupperware off already, maybe the dealer would cut me a deal to do the oil change while they had it. Can anybody tell me how much plastic has to come off for a Crankshaft Position Sensor replacement?
