• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Owners without problems - Rollcall

NO PROBLEMS WORTH MENTIONING.
Well maybe one------seems like every day I take it out I have to stop and fill up with fuel. I start off full and 6 hours latter I have to stop again for fuel.
13 thousand plus miles but who's counting.

10,000 plus -

10,000 plus miles and no problems. Have had the first update but not the second. Lamonster's oil trap installed and evap cannister removed. Recently rode 1400 miles with lots of twists and turns and no steering problems - never have had one. You can't beat the spyder for riding in the rain! A big plus in western Oregon.

Hey! I'm having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM! I think you've hit on something! Now I wonder how many others are having this same issue!

And I'll bet BRP is playing dumb about it too!

Where is my NHTSA link....I'm not laying down for this defect! This is OUTRAGEOUS! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

'08 SM5, I've got over 6000 miles so far. Very reliable and well designed machine. I've had the 1st update, no need for the 2nd one.

2008 PE SM5 w/7500 miles. Mods are in my signature... no risers.

:spyder: has run awesome since day 1 (April 2008.) Continues to run awesome to this day.

No problems. :2thumbs:

Minor nit early on... Squealing rear brakes. Removed the pads, greased the backs and pins, no more squeal; that was done 3000 miles ago.

No problems. :2thumbs:

No power steering out of the crate to about 7,600 miles when Lamont rode it and discovered the problem. I didn't know because I had nothing to compare it to.

G'day Ron,
How do find the ride with and without DPS.
Can you notice much difference when you are riding now that it is working.

2008 SM5. No problems, no updates. Runs perfect. Had a great summer with 5502 trouble free miles. Hopefully today won't be my last ride of the season. Weather in New England was great today. Rode 100 miles. Love my :spyder2: , the friends I made and the great time I had riding this well oiled machine.:ohyea:

No majors here

Red 09 SE5 -- only had a slight oil leak where Tech put seal on oil pan wrong -- runs awesome

Only Minor Problems

I have yet to experience any major issues which would cause me grave concern to my life. Yes I have experienced some of the technical issues, such as bad GPS, the RPM surge after DSP #1, squeaky brakes, but you know what BRP, through my dealership (go FMS!), has been a class act and FIXED ALL of these issues immediately. I went in for my 600 mile service and had DSP #1 done as well as the ground wire installed. Then I had some issues with the RPM surge. I recently had DSP #2 and the hose fix done and I can say my Spyder is back to its original running condition. That said I have rode since DSP #2 and did have some minor GPS issues (SE5 won't engage at start-up). So I feel that is a minor thing which I just shut down, wait 2 mins and let the system reset. Like I said my Spyder is back to its original running condition .

OK, I think it's a wonderful idea but it's not gonna work. People in here are posting to this thread NO problems when indeed they had a problem, such as a cracked water bottle, squeaky breaks, steering incident and all were fixed. Nice everything got resolved but I don't think it belongs in the NO problems thread. To me, and there are some lucky folks in here, NO problems means NOTHING, nada, zip that happened to them.
