• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

While taking my grandson to school on Scoot3r this morning I heard a loud CRACK with the resulting windscreen flopping down and back against the dash. the lower windscreen pivot arm had broken in half. Having read about a fellow member warning about this a couple of years or so ago I searched the posts and found the thread. I also found pictures of a temporary fix that CincySpyder had done with a hose clamp. AND, although it took me some effort to complete the same fix, I have a rideable trike until I get the unit replaced. There is a wealth of knowledge here-all you have to do is search. Thanks to all you Techs for your posts. Jim

Glad you found a temporary fix, when it happened to me on my 2010 RT all I had was duct tape and a bungee cord which didn't look great. When you get around to replacing the bracket try to remember to not ride with the shield all the way down as that causes more vibration. I take it to the bottom then come back up an inch or so.

Back in the day mine was replaced under extended warranty.

....Unless your Spyder has some type of fabulous Warranty that will cover this ( but I doubt it ) the Bill is going to be about $ 700.00 plus ( and I'm not joking )......NOBOOTS in Australia sells a billet alumin re-placement for about $165.00........I 've seen it, and it will NEVER BREAK.....NOT EVER.....His kit includes shims to get the thing apart.......He tells you to take off the GEAR WHEEL ....don't...Mark the magnet piece & shaft ( to get it back on correct ). and remove that . It's much easier and less likely to break than the gear wheel...............I would be interested in your broken ARM.....Mike

THE WINDSHIELD ARM MYTH

.Dear Ann, this thing about raising the windshield off the REST / STOP - protrusion to prevent stress / fatigue etc. on the ARM is a MYTH.........( Like the KEY must away from the Spyder at least 25 ft. and 10 minutes nonsense ).......When I built my ARM cover ( before the The NO BOOTS Aluminum one ).....I did some extensive testing of the entire unit ....arm, shaft, gears, magnet, motor, computer etc..........and the so-called stop nub / protrusion does NOTHING ....unless the ARM breaks.....The ARM doesn't actually rest on it in the DOWN position......the Computer gets a signal from the magnet and tells the ARM when to stop either up or down......Just like an elevator........I just thought you might like to know this bit of Spyder folklore  ........ Mike :bbq:
