There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

Clutch Assist

It improves the leverage against the clutch springs which makes the clutch lever easier to pull and hold. I'm not sure how this is accomplished on a hydraulic clutch but it's pretty simple on a cable actuated one. Usually a longer arm on shaft at the clutch end.

Would guess new Master Cylinder, or softer springs. We sometimes swap the Master Cylinder on the KTM race bikes.

There is another thread on this topic. My understanding is on the 1330 manual engine in the RT there is a vacuum assist on the clutch. Making it easier to pull the handle. But BRP decided not to install this on the F3 manuals. Do to a lot of complaints from F3 owners. BRP is coming out with a kit that will add this to the F3's.

So only lighter pull at idle with high vacuum.

The parts include some hoses, clamps, a valve and a solenoid. It looks like it will add a vacuum assist to the clutch lever. I might do the install today.

I did the mod today. Here's the good and the bad: My wife is very pleased with the new, lower effort clutch! (that made all the frustrations worth it......) For about $170 you get what looks like about $50 worth of parts. I followed the instructions printed by my dealer (they need to be in color to be useful) and it took several hours, start to finish. I could do one in under an hour now. The instructions and pix were terrible. There was a lot of guesswork involved on my part to finally get things right. I'd be willing to coach anyone who wants to do it on their own.

How did you feel about the Mod as a male? Was the shifting catch sensation the same or odd? I like the way the F3 clutch engages VS my 2012 sm5 which is easy to pull but harder to judge the clutch engagement?? You know what I mean!

I understand what you're saying about the subjective feel of a clutch. Her entire F3 has been taken apart so that it can be painted pearl white over the winter so I haven't ridden it with the new clutch feel. actually, I hardly ever ride her F3, so I may not even remember how it used to feel. In the garage (engine needs to be running), the effort was MUCH less than stock. The comparison is easy since you can just do clutch pulls with the engine on vs the engine off.

Technically, it wasn't a "kit". I asked my dealer for the clutch assist system and he had to order 12 individual parts. I did think that was odd.

So I have called 3 of my local dealers and asked about the "clutch assist system mod" and neither one of them knew what I was talking about. I am supposed to call back to one of them Friday when their shop manager is back in. Hopefully, he will know what I am referring to. Which dealer did you order it from? Instead of re-inventing the wheel, I would just order it from someone who knows about it and have it shipped.

My dealer is Mid-South Motoplex in Clarksville, TN
931-368-0237 : Ask for Chad in service
BRP Clutch Assist memo# 122791

122791 is all you should have to tell your dealer. With that number they can pull up complete installation instructions and the list of 12 parts. Make sure they print it in color so that when it refers to "red", you can figure things out! I'll be happy to give you any help you need over the phone. Our install took a few hours and I could do it again in an hour or less.

Yup...that was it. Thanks! Gave my dealer the memo number and he found what I was talking about. He said to just give him a call when I'm ready and he will order the parts. He HIGHLY recommended that I have them put it on ($300+ parts and labor). Now, I know my way around a monkey wrench pretty good...was the install THAT much of a PITA?

I probably won't order it just yet...going to wait to see how the stock clutch feels to wifey...right now there is still 3 feet of snow on the ground :banghead:

The instructions were vague and some of the parts were hard to reach. Other than that, I guess it wasn't all that bad. Mostly, I don't like anyone messing with our toys!!
