Only wheel weight on right tire?

14 RTS - Is this normal? Mine seems to pull to the right. Shouldn't it have weights on both sides?

Alignment and BUDS reset should set it straight

Like JayBros said... best money spent on the 11 RT and first thing done to the 15 RT-S. It is odd that there were no weights on one of the wheels; I thought that too when there were no weights on the rear wheel on the 15 but every tire and wheel balance different.

I also make sure that both tires have EXACTLY the same inflation pressure to make it easy to do the "Look MA, no hands" thing. My wife hates that ;)

My first pair of front tires had 15 weights on one side and 8 weights on the other side. It pulled to the right. I went back to the dealer for a laser alignment. They determined that the tires were bad at 400 miles and put on a new pair(warranty) that required a lot less weights. That made a big difference. I did get a laser alignment last Friday that really made a big difference. You need to go back to the dealer and let them know what you are dealing with. I will say that if you have very many miles on your Spyder, they may not be so willing to work with you. Go talk to the dealer. My dealer has been really great to work with. Give them an opportunity to prove themselves.

Mine also

that help some

Mine 14 RTL Just the same results. Under Warranty 4th set of tires. still pulls to the right. I have 12,500 miles on it. It has pulled to the right from day one. It has had laser alignment from two different dealers that has helped some. This set of tires has weights on the left tire but none on the right. It still shimmies some and pulls to the right. Dealer to talking to BRP still YOu must get a case # for the problem. I have found out that if you put the air pressure at max 30 on right tire and 20 on left it does help with the pulling but still pulls some. WE did find out that is you put the tires on reverse rotation the bike goes straight down the rode for over a 1/10 of a mile. This was only for one day (dry roads) but it worked.

WHEEL WEIGHTS

....wheels only need weights to counter-act an imbalance in the wheel/tire ........It's un-likely it is perfectly balanced but not un-heard of..........BUT the pulling to the right ( or left ) is not a wheel balance thing........I would start with making sure both tires have the same ( or close ) air pressure, if they do and you don't suspect suspension damage I would look very seriously at getting the ROLO/OUTLAW Lazer alignment done ( not BRP's , it's crap )...............good luck......Mike

Where wheel weights are fitted will be unique to the way each tire & rim set-up needs to be balanced, & 'wheel balance' rarely has much to do with a 'pull' in any direction, altho may (usually?) show up as wheel &/or steering vibration or odd tread wear....

So no, your Spyder doesn't necessarily need weights on both wheels &/or both sides either; & the pull one way is more likely to be pressure or alignment related than a wheel balance thing anyway.

Mike - SNAP! :2thumbs:

10 # different from one side to the other is a no go, you need to keep them within 1/2# of each other. If you are on your 4th set of tires and that hasn't fixed the problem then your wheels must be the issue.

No wieghts...

If the tires are mounted properly you should need little weights or none at all. Tires are marked for mounting at the stem location. If not mounted this way you have to counter weigh even more. Have mounted more tires than I care to remember and found if I missed the mark balanced the tire then move the mark back to the correct position I had to remove weight to balance. But as mentioned this will not be the cause for not tracking straight. Shake, shimmy and vibration will be the result of off balance...

a pull would usually be from an alignment or a bad tire not from balancing no matter how much weight it has or doesn't have.
have a laser alignment done & road force verification on tires also check tire pressure

So question I still have. What are most of you paying for laser alignments?
