I am 31 and plan on buying the sportier SM5. The main reason is price, but I also love the looks. For me, the Spyder will be a "daily" driver to and from work. I do plan on taking a few road trips with it, though. The nice thing about the RS is that it can easily convert to a quasi-touring model. Buy purchasing a nicer seat, side-saddles, and maybe a seat bag, you pretty much have a touring bike. I also plan on riding alone most of the time. My wife said she would ride around town, but is leery of road-trips. I want the manual because of the "motorcycle" feel. If I end up taking quite a few road trips, I might trade up to an SE5. Though I have heard the semi-auto is nice in town. In the end it will still be an RS.

Just find a GOOD dealer. Bad dealers are a nightmare. Believe me. The bikes are great.

I have a 2008 GS/RS (unsure of actual classification now) and I am looking to buy an RT-S to sit next to it in the garage. I was hoping my wife was going to enjoy riding with me and she does. So, I want to keep the GS/RS and buy the RT-S for rides with my wife. We purchased all the gear to make the GS/RS suitable for travel (we rode to the owners event in Los Angeles) passenger footpeg extensions, comfort seat, the Givi side bags and A Kury handlebar bag that fits nicely behind the BRP back rest. We have a comm system in a tank bag. It would just be nice to strip all the gear off of the GS/RS and go crazy riding solo, then when my wife wants to ride just hop on the RT-S and go. I am more than willing to dump my car. I gave up my favorite 2500HD Chevy when the price of diesel went wacko here in California and I wish I had it to crush the :cus: car I own now. I have been on the Spyder in a driving rain storm and never was worried about having it get away from me. I love the Spyder. Buy 'em both

I will never part with or be with my RS, period. It is just a beautiful and versitle machine, that can easily be converted to a touring bike. My thoughts at present, are if I have to have the RT, I will wait another year or two, use my RS all this while and enjoy it then buy an RT late. This way I will have the best of the two worlds and have utilized my invesment in the RS to its fullest.
