• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Old Question - what oil are you using?

Older answer...

there are many good oils out there, and as long as they meet the specifications in your manual, work fine. Amsoil is used by many and sold by our sponsors here. Many are loyal to oils they have been using and many change from the factory oils being used. If you stretch your oil changes to the max look for the better synthectics, if you stick to changing it at shorter intervals (most I have seen are breaking down at around 3,000/4,000 miles) your choices are wider. I use the XPS blend from brp which has worked well for me....jmo..

Amsoil

First oil change I had the dealer perform. We now have 8,500 miles plus on the RT Limited and I will be doing all future maintenance that I can. I have bought the preferred customer deal from Amsoil and have their 10W-40 Motorcycle Oi on hand. Plan to change oil and filter yet this year maybe, but certainly prior to opening up next riding season.

Used same oil in our 2012 RT Limited every 3,000 miles. Sold it with 13,200 miles. Hardly broke in, no problems. We saw the usual need to top it off with 10 to 12 ounces every 1,000 to 1,200 miles. The 2014 has not needed a drop added yet.

We love the 1330!!

I started using Royal Purple 10W40 Automotive Synthetic with our first Spyder, a 2008 GS SE5 (40,000 miles with RP) and our 2010 RT SM5 (53,000 miles with RP). I change the oil every 5,000 miles and have started a 10,000 miles interval this last oil change. I have never had any engine oil related issues with either Spyder. The next Spyder will run on RP from the first oil change, which I will do myself at 1,000 miles, then every 10,000 miles thereafter.

I'm running what BRP puts in it. :bdh:
But at my next oil change; I will probably switch to BRP's full synthetic juice!

I used the oil that BRP provided in the oil change kits. For me, this is a dealer servicing issue as I do not do my own oil changes.

BRPcare also posted the information a while back. First oil change at 3000 miles and subsequent oil changes around 9500 miles later, or once a year--whichever comes first.
