• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Okay SpyderLovers lurkers

I have been a Lurker for over a year, ever since my wife went looking for her a bike. I saw my first spyder and have wanted one ever since. My wife has agreed that we need to get one as well and not a motorcycle. I have never rode a motorcycle and have no desire to do so but a spyder, that is another story. I am so glad they handle like an ATV as we have 2.
This is a great site and I have learned a lot. Waiting on the 2014's.

Almost forgot, good luck in getting to your goal of 13,000 members.

Glad to have you as a poster now ;)
:welcome:

Thank you and thanks again for having a good impression of my country, in the scope of the Spyder context, the only problem with my country is that it is too darn small!... you can travel from east to west, the furthest two points in under an hour!... for longer distance, you need to cross the border, up North, which is Malaysia...

I have visited your country it was very interesting. It had the cleanest streets of any city I have ever been in. It was also huge and the waterfront was a fantastic place :welcome:

Thanks for the compliment about the cleaniness... if you are referring to the buildings in the city, yes it is huge and tall, we have very limited land area so we build upwards... and I think we are even planning to build downwards also...nojoke

Lurker no longer

I thought I would help you out with your attempt to reach 13,000 members

I have only been lurking for a few weeks. Reading and learning and trying to decide whether to jump on a Spyder. On Tuesday my wife and I put a deposit down on a 2014 RT-S SE6 after a good test ride. The unit is scheduled to arrive in their store in April if all works out, in, you probably guessed it, the Cognac colour. White would have been just as nice to us but they aren't getting one in white until later.

Now all we will have to do is sell our Goldwing which shouldn't be too difficult. The reality is that we would have sold the Wing any way and probably hung up the riding gear. It took me a while to become captivated by the Can Am Spyder but it just caught my interest more and more and started to look like a very good alternative. The more I looked, the more appealing it became and it will prolong my riding life a lot longer. Because we like to tour, a smaller bike doesn't appeal to us. Our last 2 bikes have been a Yamaha Venture and more recently the Wing. Where we live, just getting out of our streets on a large bike became an adventure that was sapping my confidence. Then worrying about slow speed handling in parking lots, gas stations etc just took the fun out of it. The Wing and the Venture are awesome bikes otherwise.

I know I will have many questions and have used the search function but sometimes just asking seems easier. Hope no one minds.

Cheers and I look forward to enjoying this informative sight.

Lamont,
If you could make business cards avaiable to us; something we could order with our screen name and the SpyderLover's website info on it...
I'd keep a batch in the bike to hand out at every opportunity!

I'd buy some . . . but with my name, not Bob's!!

Thank you for the invitation!! I have been following this forum for about 2 weeks, and it has gotten me totally stoked about joining the Spyder world.

I don't own a Spyder yet, but hope to get a 2014 RT S in January - if my local dealer is lucky enough to have a spare in Cognac. ;)

A little background:

My last ride was on a 250 Yamaha in '69. I haven't been on a bike since, except for getting my endorsement last month. My wife has been totally opposed to motorcycling for pretty much all of our 40+ years together. After much nagging on my part, she finally started relenting this past year. I was planning on a trike of some kind, mainly for the stability issues Then, a friend and his wife came over on their Spyder. She saw that, sat on it, and and became a complete convert. Now she wants us all to take a trek to Banff, Alberta next summer!

Thanks for providing such a great forum!
