• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ok my dealer called and said she had talked a good deal with her brp guy and he basically told her that the new mapping was for the stock pipe and it makes the bike run rich or lean? he hinted we should've stuck with the stock pipe....yeah right :roflblack:....anyway he said to try blocking the hose to the throttle body and running it like that to see if it helps....ok how do i block it, where is it and do i just run it like this all the time? the dealer did not know either. she just wanted me to run it like that and then call her back next week to see how it runs, then she's suppose to let him know how it did. he told her if i had a juice box to not let her tech mess with it because of liability? i don't have a juice box anyway. i know they are trying to save me an hour drive back to them but what do you guys think? i have more faith in you all than i do my dealer...:helpsmilie:

Not silly at all - it's becoming obvious that the Reprog is leaning out the fuel mapping - I would do a reset, before messing with anything else -disconnect the battery for 15 min, then, reconnect & run the Spyder for 10-15min at idle.

See if it runs better then..

Whatever you do..don't let your hubby touch it..you know how those harely guys are..lol. JK..I agree, unplug and see what happens. Just got mine done, have not had time to go pick it up yet but a little scared to now.

I had the "upgrade" by the dealer a couple of weeks ago, and the bike does not perform as before. 'Burbles' between 3K and 4k in all gears, and backfires occassionally then the throttle is rolled back. I just got off the phone with the dealer-they say they can re-check it, but have no way to re-program to original. I will try the battery disconnect to see if that helps.

I have been paying close attention to mine and it does this between 3300 & 3900 RPMs when at steady throttle. No backfire, checking mileage now.

In multiple posts on this, I don't recall anyone offering up where or how to block off the hose. Maybe your dealer can have the BRP guy call you directly to explain what they want you to try. :dontknow:

I tried the battery dis-connect-did not help. ??????????????????

who knows?

he didn't specify which hose or if he meant clamp it or plug it or what??? that's why i think he pulled something out of his :cus: ! even the dealer's spyder mechanic said what hose and why would you do that? it would run worst! so back to square one...:gaah: do you think it would help if i bought the o2 mod. or a juice box???

by the way what is this sensor and why does it have an open valve that sucks in air when you throttle but it is not covered?

oh shoot can't put in the picture in an edit....i'll try to post again....

Is she talking about the evap purge valve?

I'm pretty sure the line they wanted to pinch off would have been the purge valve line. The valve in her picture was the clutch solenoid valve, it has nothing to do with the evap.

It has to be the Purge Valve hose that they want to pinch off. That would be the only way it would make sense.

But now I have a stupid question...

Why do we need a Clutch Solenoid Valve? That has to be part of the VSS and the front/rear brake integration system...Right?

It's a vacuum assist to help the clutch pull easier when the motor is running.
Wow, learn something new every time I come here.

Now that I re-read my question, it was pretty stupid. DUH! Clutch/Brakes, what am I thinking?

Thanks Lamont

Yes, very little known feature of the Spyder, and the one that sold Nancy on getting an SM5. If you don't think it helps, try the clutch with the engine off and compare. BRP hit a home run with this one!

Lamont never tells me anything.....I have to come here to find out what's going on.
