• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil level check

"Dan_Ashley;726789]oh...I guess I asked another dumb question.....seems to be MY speciality! LOL!"

Being inquisitive is hardly dumb.

A simple sight gauge in the oil tank would make life easier for everyone. Especially those who detest or are timid about removing a panel to check oil.
If they could make one that wasn't prone to leakage or damage. The "bull-eye" type sight glasses seem to be the most reliable. A "bulls-eye" in the tank (and perhaps another a little lower) and a view hole in the Tupperware would make life easier. Unfortunately sight glasses are still subject to all the level variations that the existing system is, so the timing of any readings would still be critical.

So, we are earmarking Rotella as sub standard oil for this application ?

Good reference thread. There are others, too, if you search for them. Read the threads and make your decision. The most conservative approach is to not use anything that is not JASO MA2 rated. That will provide the best wet-clutch performance. Next would be JASO MA rated which also provides good wet clutch performance, just not as good as MA2. As reported in the thread, Lamont had problems with Rotella (MA rated). Other threads have reported problems with Mobil 1 motorcycle oil which is also MA rated. Others have no problem so it may be a very borderline situation. I've used Mobil 1 motorcycle oil (MA-rated) in my Goldwing, Suzuki V-Strom, Honda Sabre and others with excellent results. But since MA2-rated oil is available, for the RT I'll go the conservative route and stick with that. Do your research and make your own decision.
