Oil Leak?

I am getting oil drips on my garage floor from underneath the area around the oil drain plugs/filters (SE5). I checked the drain plugs and filters and they appear dry. I can't see anything obvious as far as the source of the drips. Any suggestions on where else to look on that side of the motor for an oil leak source?

You didn't just have an oil change did you? The transmission gets lots of oil run down it from filter removal and unless washed off, will dribble for awhile.

If the source of drip is not obvious, I'd pull the lower panels off, shoot some Simple Green on the areas, rinse, let dry, stick a cardboard underneath, and see it you can then find the drip.

few months ago my 2010 RTS had the same thing going on. Had dealer repair under warranty.Cause was an o-ring leaking on the water pump shaft. Dealer installed a kit that came with a new pump shaft,o-rings and some other parts.
Oil was coming down side of block from what seemed to be from upper part of engine. I have heard of this happening on a few others as well. No more drips.

Amoung other issus i have with my Spyder. I sometimes not always have an oil drips on the floor from the rear right hand side of the engine. Anybody ever have this particular oil drip problrm?

It's likely from oil (blow-by) into the airbox. Lots of threads on the subject.

Why does this engine get the oil blow-by into the airbox? What is the proper cure for this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Over filling the oil, Is the main reason. If you keep the oil level between the low and high mark [checked by the book] you shouldn't have a problem with blow bye.

I just checked my oil level by the book. My oil level is even with the top of the full line marker on the dip stick. I've only had one oil service so far and that was the 600 mile service. I've noticed this occasional oil drip on the garage floor since the spyder was bought brand new two months ago. Do you think they over filled the spyder from the factory?

I had an oil leak RHS dripping near the main cross frame behind the Radiator

When I took it to my nearest dealer who had only just become a CAM - AM Dealer
It was for the 3,000 mile service - It was suggested it was from Blow By and normal

I took my Spyder RT - S SE5 2010 Model home but the leak remained - Only a drip or 2 and only after the Spyder had cooled down
Never seemed to drip when hot and running

Small drips evident on my Driveway or Garage Floor

At 6,000 mile service I took it back to my Can - Am dealer where I Purchased it from further away but one the Longest Serving dealers in the UK and has a lot of knowledge ref Spyders

I asked them to investigate the following as information asI had found out this Information via this website :-

Investigate

Oil leak drips RHS Rear of Radiator Near the main frame and Splash guard panel

My Spyder (2010 RT - S -SE5) is dripping oil from pretty much the centre of the bike right under the motor. I've gone as far as taking the plastic off the right and left side but can't see anything leaking. I checked the oil level and it appears OK

Possible causes

1- Oil in Air Box (Blow Bye)

2 - Oil leak leak at the gasket where the water pump and attaches to the engine.

3 - Another place to look for common leaks would be the oil pressure sensor--- front

right side of engine

4 - Check the head gasket on the rear cylinder at the lowers point right beside the gas
tank.

The answer was No 3

The Oil pressure sensor was replaced under warranty - and I am now on 8,842 miles and not a single drop of oil since

Due another service at 9,000 No guessing which dealer I will be using

Hope this helps

If it's right to the full now' And some already has leaked [blow bye] out yes,
Some dealers think 4.5 quarts is the right amount, When i had my Spyder 08 Sm5 i always used 4 quarts'
It was easy that way just open 4 bottles pore them in and i was done.

My oil leak

I just found out today that my oil leak was caused by a crack in the drain plug.
