• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil leak

If you are sure it's from the airbox then it's from the crankcase through the rubber vent hose.

Fix is to clean up the inside of the airbox and the vent a different way as discussed here:

Valve cover (gaskets) can be another source. Not all that common and usually shows up after a valve inspection/adjustment where the covers are pulled and the old or preferably replacement gaskets get messed up.

Valve covers and other sources besides airbox will usually lead you to the dealer for a fix.

All sorts of ways to find the source from flashlight and eyes to UV additives and UV light.

My first ride oil leak

I went on my first ride today, I put about 60 miles on it I was coming home and a car pulled up beside me and said it was smoking. I pulled over and found that I was leaking some kind of fluid. I took it home and let it cool down now i found a oil leak or looks like a oil leak directly under the spyder. I just bought it yesterday!!. Can someone help or does it need to go back to the dealership?

Don't drive it until you check the oil level as per the owner's manual. If it is low, that probably means that the dealer missed something significant like tightening a drain plug or the like.

If the oil is low after only 60 miles (and smoking), I'd call the dealer and have them pick it up. Don't drive it with an oil problem of that magnitude.

After only 60 miles, my ASSUMPTION is that it is not the typical oil build-up in the airbox... that takes a while... certainly not 60, not-so-fast miles.

On the other hand, it could also be a coolant leak from a not-ready-for-prime-time tightening job on the reservoir cap... there are TWO distinctly successive "notches" to tighten fully. Several in the past have had it tightened only to the first.

Unless you have the BEST warranty, there is no roadside assistance.

I just posted this on the other thread. I agree with the others. Call the dealer back and have him pick it up. They all have trailers but if he wants to use BRP's warranty he can make that arrangement. Heck, you didn't even get home before it acted up. He did the service he should make it right-NOW:lecturef_smilie:

pick up

The dealer sent someone yo get the:spyder2: today so they can fix it. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully i will have the :spyder2: back soon.
