• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil leak question

The spyder is leaking oil and it seems to be coming from an allen head plug. I have an SM5 and if you follow the small diameter tube at the top of the oil reservoir back to the engine, this allen head plug is just above it. The oil is pooling in the narrow galley in front of the plug.

My question is- what is this plug or what is it's function? I guess if I have to take a pic, I can do that. I also have a service appt. next Tuesday for this leak. The dealer I'm taking it to has performed all my maintenance/service work; so, there should be no question that it is warranty work. My 2 year factory warranty is still in effect.

Do you have a picture of the area and oil to help illustrate?

thanks.

My fault

I took the spyder in yesterday for an oil leak. It appears to have been my fault. I installed a hose with filter from the crankcase to air box using worm clamps. I did it before this riding season and then never checked them again. The clamps had loosened. I didn't suspect those clamps b/c of where the oil drips lay on the floor in relation to where I thought the leak was.

The tech cleaned the engine of oil and tightened the clamps. Rode about a 100 miles yesterday and it looks like the leak has stopped.

But, they did order an oil pressure sensor/switch as the spyder intermittently flashed the engine light and scrolled 'check engine'.

Glad the source has been found, by the sounds of things. 100miles and no drips, that's good!

Cheers and thanks for sharing this.
