• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil change procedures on '14?

Does it still use same filter as 998 motor? How do you get to the filter to change it?

Also, according to the fiche, the front swing arms do not
have grease fittings. What say you folks riding '14's?

Well he can't seem to find a Spyder either, we need to talk to his dealer before Bob goes out and buys a Vespa. :roflblack::roflblack:

Bob, you can see where this is heading can't you? Starting to get a severe itch now that salesman just called and thought we might be able to somehow get together .........;);) He knows he has a fish on the line and is playing it out a little. :yikes:

My next question is, will Utopia or that other one (forget the name) work on the 14's?

The 998 motor takes filter part number 420956747.
The 1330 motor takes filter part number 420956743.
Not the same part number but I do not know the difference.

Curious: same number on all but last digit: 10,11, 12's ended with 5. '13 with a 7, '14 with a 3. Am thinking they all are the same filter no matter what the number.

The filter on the 10, 11, 12 is the old filter part number not reinforced for the longer oil change interval that changed mid 2012.

The 2014 seat has a built in bracket for the BRP backrest and i doubt that a utopia or other brand backrest will fit it, but i am sure some one will eventualy make one to fit.

No grease

Looks like no grease needed for the front suspension arms. The following is the only maintenance on the schedule.

Routine Oil/Filter Changes

Looking at the manual, it says 5.6 qts of oil for the SE. The oil filter is different from earlier models and is located on the top right side underneath the top side panel: means you gotta remove the mirror, then the panel, and the filter looks like an easy removal.

Air filter looks easy to check as its on the left top side similar to the oil filter location on the right side.

Underneath there are TWO OIL DRAIN PLUGS: one for engine and one for gearbox. Haven't looked to see if they can be removed without removing panels. Manual didn't say anything about removing panels.

Best of all there are no more nasty grease fittings to deal with on the front end.

Type/grades/weight of motor oil are the same as before. I'll be running a lab test after the first oil change is done at the recommended 3000 mi (this was 600 mi for 998's) and I get at least 3-4K miles on the new oil. I want to see if this motor shears as badly as my '11 RT did. Presumably not or BRP wouldn't be talking 9K between oil changes. Personally, I can't imagine going more than 5K.
