• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Oil change or add

Odd question but had oil changed by dealership at 815 miles, and now at 2273 and oil is low. So do I just add or complete a full change with filters and "o" rings?. Have been on Bajaron's site looking already. TIA

First, how do you know that the dealership didn't leave you low to start with? I always recommend checking your oil level as soon as possible after having someone else do the work. Many are quite surprised. This happens with any vehicle that gets serviced. My dealership always leaves my VW TDi about 1/4 quart low.

Second, are you checking the oil level correctly? You need to have the engine oil at operating temperature. Not just the coolant. You can idle your engine until the coolant reaches operating temperature and your oil will probably still be stone cold. It's best to ride your Spyder for at least 10 or 15 minutes to be sure your oil is hot. Then, on a level surface, check your oil level.

But to answer your question, if you are indeed low. Just top it off with the correct lubricant. It's best to use what is already in there. But you can use other, proper lubricants without causing any harm.

Hope this helps!

Ron is correct but if you have a V-twin it is normal for it to consume oil between changes. I typically had to add 1 quart between changes. Like Ron said it is a good idea to check the oil after a service, I know of a few people who had way too much oil in their bikes when they picked them up from service.

Here's what I would do...

Your model v-twin should change oil every 4,600 miles. Top it off, if it is low after checking it like Ron stated, and ryde on till it's time for an oil change.

As already mentioned the RS engines do use a little oil anyway but they also use more oil when new. I did find I had to top mine up quite regularly at first but don't have to now.

Personally I don't fill oil to the full mark but aim between 3/4 and 2/3. That way I know there's no chance of overfilling. It's possible the person who did the service also does that.

Though the official oil/filter change interval is 7500km (4600 miles) I personally do one at 5000km (3100 miles) - Even after that distance the oil is looking well used.
