There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Oil Change on 2012 rtse5

Help!!!!
I have removed all the panels and need to know how to get to the bottom bolt on the hcm filter housing. Anyone have any ideas. BRP has put it in a really tight space.:yikes: Thanks in advance spyderrider51.

Here's the secret to avoid having an Exxon moment

remove plastic oil leaks out when you take i a part ,and have oil in side plastic cover , now easy way i see , or drill hole only there
Remove both drain plugs & lower filter, then, once you get the screws loose for the trans filter cover, barely break the seal of the cover, by pulling it forward just enough to break that air seal, then hold it back in place for about a minute. Breaking that seal allows most (not all) of the stored oil in the trans filter and cover to then "escape" and you should see a few more ounces drain from the lower plug. Once it stops draining, then go ahead and remove the trans filter cover, with having a couple of shop towels or paper towels laying right below the bottom of the cover, atop the fins. You can then use suction, I've used an old turkey baster, and suck out the small amount of oil in the interior recesses. Works pretty well to avoid making a mess & having oil flow down those fins. Really hard to get them clean, so you learn better ways (like this) to do it next time. Also, Lamont posted about drilling a hole in the plastic brace, to allow acces wi

Drill that hole mentioned above and get a long 7mm? allen to fit the bolt head. They make long ones with "T" handles which I find work very well and you aren't likely to strip the bolt. Takes some wriggling to get the filter cap up/out and new filter in but obviously its doable.

I gave up trying not to get oil on the fins so after I finish and get everthing buttoned back up, spray it down good with Simple Green, hose off and let drain awhile or go for short ride before putting back in garage to keep any excess from dripping on floor.

Don't forget to hold the throttle wide open when engaging the starter to pump the oil all the way through the engine. That will arrest the spark and keep the bike from starting. Hold starter on until oil light goes off.
