• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Oil change observation

Just finished the first oil change on my 2015 RT. The last two bikes I owned were a FJR1300 and a GL1800 wing. They were the most convenient bikes around to change the oil. The Spyder is just the opposite. It's easy to get the oil out but the cluster f@#k to change the filter should have gotten somebody flunked out of engineering school. Service items should be serviceable. Rant over let the flames begin.

You mean you don't have to remove the mirrors on the other bikes when you change the oil? :roflblack:

On the FJR you remove nothing except the drain plug, filter and fill plug. No plastic , no mirrors nothing. On the wing you remove 1 piece of plastic and no mirrors.

Bummer...

On the RS you can do it by removing one cover...but I like things to stay clean so I clean the engine and remove a bunch of stuff...but not the mirrors....:roflblack:

Yup, and I removed the "grill" from that cover so now I don't even have to remove any plastic. Oil changes on the RS are super easy. [emoji106]
What bugs me is doing an oil change on my Harley. It's 3 different fluid holes to deal with and a filter location that's almost impossible to keep oil off the front rubber motor mount.[emoji19]

Stupid design

i have owned two HD's. they had very easy maintenance. The Can am is a maintenance PIA. I plan on taking it to the dealer for a yearly oil change. If something breaks they fix it.

MIDDLE PANEL

You can remove the middle panel and do an oil change without removing the mirrors and front panels...

Just did it... :)

:agree::agree::agree: .......But it isn't easy :lecturef_smilie: ......and if it isn't easy, people will complain about that :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:.............Mike :bbq:

You start with the mirrors??????? My riding buddy says to always remove the frunk first, then the mirrors ......

I agree, changing the oil on the Spyder RT is a major PIA. I've had a Victory, a Goldwing, and several assorted Hondas, all fairly easy maintenance. Yes, the Spyder RT is the most difficult oil change I've ever done. Fortunately, the interval is 9,300 miles so I only have to do it a few times a year as opposed to every two months like I've had to do in the past.

This thread is making me VERY happy that my dealer has "reasonable" service rates and is only two miles away.
