• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil and filter

I used many different brands, couldn't tell the if any one was better than the other one, I only used 10/40 and this is important, The oil has to be for ''WET CLUCH USE.''
Filters i got from a can am dealer.

i used the BRP filter on my last oil change and Castrol 10-40 4T racing oil. Spyder runs great!

I have used BRP 5W-40 full syn (the old type), BRP blend, 10W-40 Castrol 4T full syn, and 10W-40 Amsoil MC oil. I have used both BRP and Hi-Flo filters. Like Boborgera, I have seen no huge differences, especially at the short 3,000 mile change intervals. If you switch to the new BRP filters and extend the interval to 4,600 miles, I'd use a quality full synthetic, but that's just me and my comfort zone.

As specified in your manual, you don't have to use BRP oil, but you do have to use an oil that meets the oil specification in the manual.

I use Royal Purple 10W40 Synthetic Automotive oil and order my filters from Baja Ron. With a combined 68,000 miles on 2 Spyders (2008 SE5, traded, and 2010 SM5 RT) I have had "ZERO" issues from using RP Automotive oil. I have always changed my oil at 5,000 mile intervals. On the 7.5 week trip we took around the country in 2009, I never changed the oil until I got home...just added as I needed.

Just to add...when the tech checked the valves on the SE5 before reselling it, all valves were within tolerance, after 43,000 miles!
