• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Addatives

Here in the UK we have a readily available product called ZX1. This is a chemical mixture which reduces friction by coating ( according to the makers ) only metal surfaces, which is added to the oil which is only supposed to be a carrier for it. I have used it in car and bikes for some years without any problems. I must be honest and say it works. It made my old Yam XS1100 much easier to start and the gearbox was a treat to use.
Now I know from this site that the Guvner ( Lamonster ) had a problem with Rotella and would love to know if anyone has used similar stuff in Spydie or not.
Any opinions for or against most appreciated.

IMHO your Spyder stars easily and shifts smoothly, so why take a chance. Your Yamaha has a wet clutch so it should be ok. What good things will it do for your Spyder versus what bad things might it do. :dontknow: This is a proven engine in a low to moderate state of tune. It should last for a loooong time without extra additives. Just curious. Is the Spyder classified as a motorcycle in the UK? If so do you have a tiered licensing system?

my opinion

I wouldn't put any additives in a new bike with low miles because it typically doesn't go with the manufacture recommendations early on. If you keep oil changed regularly you really shouldn't need all this stuff anyways until you get to the high miles.

Sabunim5 Hi,
In the UK we can ride bikes with restrictions on age and engine size until you pass the tests, then its all go. Spyder on car or bike licence. Thats roughly it. No helmet required on the Spyder, but I choose to look after my head, well mostly anyway, unless I fancy a pop down the shops and show a big smile to all the locals.
