• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OIL! A Slippery Subject...

That' salesmanship 101..!!

I may have to switch yet...will go to your site need oil filters anyway..!!! :lecturef_smilie:

It's good stuff!
I switched my 1992 Polaris XCR 440 over to it when we bored, stroked, piped, ported, and then bored the carbs on it once the warranty was off...
I ran it for fifteen years as an overachieving "520" that humbled a lot of machines with way more displacement.
Amsoil kept it running strong! ;)

I like the video and I like Amsoil. But to be fair there are a few details that may not apply to our Spyders.

1- Crankshaft bearing failure has not been an issue on the Spyder regardless of the oil used (or any other bearing failure for that matter). Not to say that NO bearings have EVER failed on the Spyder, just saying it isn't an issue.
2- Most are not racing their Spyder on a regular basis.
3- Most are not getting the extreme HP out of their Spyder that these guys are getting out of their engine.

Still, I think it does make the point that the oil you use does make a difference.

Question:
Is Amsoil more expensive than the typical oils that are suggested for usage?
'Nuther question:
How much is "peace of mind" worth?

According to the other test royal purple is way better than amsoil.:(:( I think I will switch to royal purple.

Let the "Oil War" continue.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

My Thoughts: With the use of any oil that meets the BRP specifications, and changed with filters within the guidelines provided. the lower end of the motor will outlast the useful life of the Spyder.

Just my opinion

Good grief... Somebody please take the pitcher of Kool-Aid off of the table. No lubricant is a cure for a flexy crank causing "bearing issues", ( what issue? where are the details?) even if Erik is paid to say so.

I've got an idea:
let's move on to Helmet usage and handgun ownership....
they are always guaranteed to generate lots of friendly disucssion! :gaah::gaah::gaah: :roflblack:
