• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OH NO!!!!!

M2WILD has a GS, that's why he ordered everything. I hope to come out with more RT parts in the future but this is all I have right now, sorry folks.

Thanks,
Harvey

I am happy that you have the guard for the RT so no apologies needed (at least in my direction)... will watch for future additions..

Just installed mine.

The "Guard to Belt" gap actually increased going towards the forward end if you place the guard flush with the edge of the swing-arm.

So in order to keep the same distance from back to front, the guard had to be angled which then required to attach area to be ground flush with the swing-arm. This facilitated the re-attachment of the BRP cover.

Keeping the same distance from back to front will ensure maximum protection against foreign object damage (FOD).

Sure NOW you ask after it is all put back together! :banghead: LOL

Let me see what I can do. It is a difficult area to get a good angle to take one, but to benefit all and to show what I am talking about, I will give it a try!

Remember:
Keep the Guard Parallel to the Drive Belt. Do not try to keep the adhesive area flush with the swing-arm - you are trying to keep FOD out and you can only do that by maintaing an equal distance from the belt.

I LIKE THE SIMPLICITY OF THIS PRODUCT AND WHAT IT DOES!
A MUST BUY ITEM FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE - IMHO.

Thanks for the heads-up... mine came in today and as soon as it cooler (like before 7am or after 8pm) I am gonna take a shot a putting it on...or maybe I will wait for your pics..

There is no reason to keep the "Missing Belt Guard" parallel with the drive belt, it is not designed this way by mistake.

The angle is there on purpose and great care was taken to make it an easy install by making the adheasive have full contact with the swing arm for durability.

All stones and debrea come from the tire, not the road! The angle that it moves away from the belt towards the front creates air flow to remove dust to prolong wear.

Why would anyone make a part that has to be modified when installed? Trust me, if it needed to be parallel it would have been made that way.

It's not even visable after it's installed so eye appeal is not going to be a factor.

Thanks,
Harvey

Thanks for the clarification Harvey, I'm hoping that mine comes in today so that I can get it installed on Sunday.
Keep up the good work with these mods. :2thumbs:

I hate to ask but it's been a long day, what is FOD? :hun::dontknow:
Look above.

It's been more than a week since I ordered it. Hope to get mine soon too.

Mine came in yesterday about 4 days after I ordered it... and thanks Harvey for the clarification. I will now proceed with installation tonight after the sun goes down...

FOD is an aviation term that stands for "Foreign Object Damage".

And I would recommend that anyone installing this belt guard do a dry-fit placing a piece of cardboard between the guard and the belt to ensure equal distance is maintained. NO ANGLE - PARALLEL TO BELT

As far as dust being an issue, I would be more concerned with a harder material causing damage, like a small stone or construction nail, than road dust.

As to WHY would someone make something that needed to be modified?
Are WE ALL not modifying these BRAND NEW motorcycles because someone didn't make it the way it should have been as far as each of us is concerned? I would personally want to MAXIMIZE the guards capability to keep things out versus worrying about air-flow for dust removal. It is my personal preference based on decades of maintaing, inspecting and operating multi-million dollar military and civilian aircraft (yes I know the Spyder does not have wings - well not yet! Still waiting for THAT mod!).

That being said, I think Harvey has a great product whose idea seems to prolong drive-belt wear by keeping the potential of FOD away from the belt and associated gears.

I will work on the pics this weekend if anyone is still interested so you can see what I am talking about. Let me know.

Two very inteligent minds at work, pics would be great! If it makes REPOPS even better, so be it. I also think FOD vs dust is more important.

Couldn't wait so I put on tonight (still 85 degrees out at 9:00 PM!). Fairly easy, followed instructions, hardest part was removing backing nuts on the two rear screws and trying to remove front Torx screw that is in the tightest space (I have big hands). Anyway, good fitment, instructions were very clear, looking forward to more innovation from their company for the RT-S!

:clap::clap::clap:

Ordered... moving to a place with even more gravel roads than where I am now so this is just in time.. Thanks!

Finally cooled down enough to get it installed.. pain in the a$$ getting the outer guard off, but more so getting it lined up and back on.. took me about 45 minutes and 40 of that was getting the screws on and off... test road my :spyder2: around the gravel roads here in the RV park and all was good...

Been on there now for over two and a half weeks and I have basically forgotten about it. Working as it should as I ryde on a lot of gravel roads and have great piece of mind as to it back there working as it should. I don't see any wear on the tire or belt...so goes it.

Bring on more goodies for the RT-S!!! :2thumbs::2thumbs:
