SWMBO and I are off to Wingding on Thursday. Staying in Pigeon Forge. Hoping to visit with some vendors at this meet, specifically, MC tent trailers. Have a few preferences but trying to keep an open mind. (:helpsmilie:kinda hard for a curmudgeon doncha know?).

Looking forward to some great trade show stuff.

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: From one curmudgeon to another...I know! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

We have the Aspen Sentry trailer, and I recommend it highly. We considered others, but it was the best combination for us. It is heavier than the RT-622 trailer, so it can haul less cargo before you hit the 400 pound limit, but it tows nicely and sets up quickly...even if you only do it once in a while. We would have liked the hard top of the Ambassador, but we don't want to have to step over anything when we enter. Too hard on our titanium knees...LOL. Good luck on making your decision. Sometimes it is harder to choose when you are in the candy store.

Thanks Scotty,

Have had others recommend Aspen Sentry and that is on our 'hafta see it list'. Have narrowed at this time to two which appear to be manufactured within two miles of each other. Kinda comes down to queen vs. cali-queen. Want to 'kick the tires', and check the seams, so to speak.

We had one bad experience with our Aspen Sentry on our trip. It came from a torrential downpour that lasted all night. The water that ran underneath the floor seeped up thru. It took us a few days to get that dried out.

You MUST remember to get your sprinkler set up and let it soak this unit all day and let it dry out again. Do it more than once. We learned the hard way that this should be done BEFORE you go forth camping with it.

I saw another brand of camper at one of the camp sites. It is called a Time Out camper (http://timeouttrailers.org/campingtrailers.aspx)I remember checking them out before choosing the Aspen. What I liked about the Time out was the "changing room" was 1) about a foot longer, and 2) the changing room was up off the ground by around 6 inches, which eliminates the mess we encountered with the water soaking the floor. and 3) it was much lighter.

Downsides with this unit was it took quite some time to set up compared to our around 4 minute set up time. It also uses guy lines with stakes to stablize it because of its height. Also, it does not come close to the storage capacity of the Aspen.

Hope you have fun at the Wing Ding. I m guessing there will be a vast variety of campers to eyeball!

I use a ground cloth under my changing room. I also sealed all the seam with tent seam sealer. I have not had any leakage problems, in pretty hard rain. Not sure how it would weather a monsoon, though.

Scotty,

Thanks for the input. A Goldwing friend had a Time Out and he recommended the Bunkhouse. They supposedly have a 60x80 queen as opposed to the Aspen Sentry's advertised California queen. While I am 6'3", the queen should suffice. Don't see need for Cali queen. Weight saved might allow for addition of Den or screenroom.

The Aspen Classic has a larger bed and larger changing room, but it is heavier. We have found no need for the larger quarters. The queen bed is long enough for me, but I'm a runt at 6'0" and I sleep with my feet hanging over. There is some extra space on the bedboard, so you could add some foam to lengthen the available bed space on a Sentry, if needed.

We have a screenroom, but we never use it. It is a bit of a pain to put on and take off. It is OK for extended stays, but too much work for one-nighters. The awning is less work, and handy in a sunny campsite, but we seldom bother with it, either. It tends to collect water in the rain. We like the awnings. They allow the flaps to remain fairly open much of the day, so you get more ventilation. We also have the storm windows. They are a bit of trouble, but very welcome in bad weather. We also have and recommend the bed caddy...very handy. One more thing we recommend is a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet for the changing room, and a throw rug or second piece of carpet for outside the door. Makes it much nicer.

Did y'all have as much fun at Wing Ding at we did? Was that your :spyder2: that was parked in the Holiday Inn garage one day? I meet a gentleman that is a new owner of a red :spyder2:, he was from Tn.

Did you get as many questions about your :spyder2: as I did?

If spending $$ is fun, yep. Tho we only spent Friday there. Went fishin' on Saturday and then headed home on Sunday.

Nope. We stayed up in Pigeon Forge. Just parked at the zoo and took shuttle in on Friday.

We met him also. He has had his about as long as we have had ours.

Quite a few. More when out and about than at the Wingding.

Scotty, your$.02?

Scotty, I thought I saw where you had posted something about using Ride-On in you trailer tires. Can't find it now. If you did post, how much worked for you?

Yes, I have Ride-On in my RT-622 trailer tires. I used the automotive formula, and used whatever amount was recommended for that size tire in their tables. I don't remember exactly how much. No problems whatsover with it...but no obvious improvement, either. The RT-622 rides too smoothly to tell.
