• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OEM armrest F3L

For anyone who has installed The BRP pass. arm rests how has it changed the passenger getting on and off the bike? Can the passenger get on and off with the driver on the bike or does the driver have to dismount every time the passenger wants off? Looks like a pretty tight squeeze with the driver on the bike.

Thanks

I let my wife get on first and get off last, that way I can give her a helping hand if needed. She likes the armrests as it gives her a convenient handhold while mounting and dismounting.

Allow me to add a follow-up to my topic. I installed the BRP armrests yesterday (2019 F3L) and the installation was pretty basic. I wasn’t exactly sure how best to secure the two electrical connections remaining from the heated hand holds. This topic was discussed on another thread. Anyway, we took a ride this evening and my wife is very pleased with the armrests. She feels more secure and because her arms are now on the arm rest they serve as an automatic brace for any movement. Plus the comfort factor was increased.

Conclusion: even though they are a bit pricey they were a good purchase and looks like it is going to improve the ride.

Thanks again for all the comments.

We had our first ride tonight on our 2015 F3 with the spyder black passenger armrests. My wife loves them for the same reasons Poasttown stated. While pricey, we like them a lot.

Hello spyderlovers!

I bougth the armrest last month and received. Not yet mounted.
Very useful comments. I will explain the view of my wife
Thank you

I am looking at the armrests as well. Does this comment mean that the armrests does not come with the heated feature?

Yes. When you remove the handholds you have to remove the pass. seat and unplug the electrical connection for each hand hold. I didn’t want to lose the heated handholds but apparently that was the trade-off. My wife liked the heated handholds but didn’t use them very often and she would use the armrests every ride.

I’m still researching into if BRP has a special plug/cap which will waterproof and secure the exposed plug. For now I have wrapped the connection with electrical tape. FYI, I have asked two dealers this question and neither seemed to know for sure. I have also contacted BRP and received a email confirming my email and a statement that I will be contacted. I will provide an update at some point.
