Odd squeak when backing up

For some time now I have noticed some annoying squeaks when backing my RT up. They only seem to happen when backing, and sound like the brakes are rubbing. I can not figure out why it is only in reverse that I hear the sound? Any ideas?

Same here. The brakes don't squeak when applied, just when backing up. Strange huh?

Oh oh...do I see a problem looming?....I have started getting a similar "noise" when backing. More prevalent on the first back up of the day....anyone discovered what's Up with this.

Just the typical brake squeal from the brake pads. Always worse with cold, damp brakes after sitting. Worse with dirty brakes or rotors, too. I would ignore it. The new third generation brake pads may help. Stopping hard a few times to remove the glaze from the pads may help, too. Not a big deal unless it drives you to the nuthouse.

:agree:I have the same thing. In fact I noted it on another thread concerning clicking noise. I don't worry about it. It hasn't gotten any louder. If it does, I'll check it out.

Would you say the "squeak" is more like a moan/squeak? Mine has made a weird sound a few times when backing into the garage. No noise going forward, can't see anything that appears out of place and it stops fine. It does sit all week so I'm hoping it is just from under-use!:yikes:

Yep, that's the usual sound. Not a mousy squeak, but a ghostly moan.

I get three distinct sounds... one from each of the wheels. It's like a symphony. As long as the RT stops when I depress the pedal, I'll run them until they need replacing. :clap:

I would look into the 3rd generation brakes, Put them on my 08 Gs.

Okay I feel better, that is a better description of the sound - a ghostly moan.- I'm pretty sure I'm not running over anybody's foot as Bob Denman queried. It's been "hanging out" with the Kawi's since we brought it home, but I swear I pay 100% of my attention to it since I have balance issues with the the others! :f_spider:

I have the same moan. I asked my dealer about it here is what i understand.. Now this is coming from a girl, when backing the belt slides and the moaning starts when it has moved over and rubs on the side.
