• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Observations on a end of season ride.

Saw three moose on the road about a half mile from my place. Ever wonder why they don't call more than one, meese or something like that? :roflblack::roflblack:

It was the neighborhood mom and she had two yearlings with her. I don't see them very often in summer, but they start showing up in fall. I am guessing she will be in my yard within 24 hours or so for her annual crab apple harvest. I have two apple trees, one for pies, and one for the moose.

It is getting colder by the day. It was 32 on the shady side of my mountain twisty ride--felt like 10 below. :roflblack: There was some black ice beginning to form. The ponds and the slow channels in the river are now hard frozen. Saw a car in the ditch and up a tree. No occupants, so guessing it happened sometime since yesterday PM. I cut the speed back 10 - 15 mph just to make sure I stayed in control. A balmy 37 degrees on the "sunny" side of the mountains. Still felt like 10 below. :roflblack: Note to self. Balaclava goes on and the winter grade socks go on before the boots for the next ride. It was cold, but has not turned into an "endurance ride" as of yet. I much appreciate the heated handgrips.

I rolled over to 9100 miles + on todays 65 mile ride to the mailbox. I did not see even one other motorcycle on my trip. I saw one yesterday, and he waved at me like I was a long lost friend.

How many more rides? Depends. Supposed to get rain/snow mix on Saturday (80%). 1000 ft and higher will get more white. I ride until snow and ice comes to my side road--or it gets cold enough to become "endurance riding." Time will tell.

Up to this point, I thought BMW had the best heated grips in the industry. No more. BRP, you have the crown! They work great and are much appreciated here in the northern climate! We are getting near the end of our season, too, as the temps are fluxing between 60* and 20*, sometimes on the same day! :D

When I was in Rapid City in early May, I encountered snow at Mt. Rushmore, and the Needles Highway was closed due to ice. Had to go back to Needles two days later.

"I pity the fool.." Mr.T always said

You need to move a wee bit further South, where the Sun still manages to break through the thick clouds on occassion. Hahaha

Planning to ride, until my Christmas Shopping trips finish... ;-)
Wish me luck.

Interesting post, Spyderman. Alaska sure is different from the "lower 48" in MANY respect. (Mostly good!) I'd love to go back someday soon.

I've ridden more this year than ever before. This trip to Lamont's BBQ is my last out-of-town trip for this year, though. I'll try to find any excuse to ride through the winter, if it's not snowy.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

In Las Vegas it is just about cool enough to open the windows at night but I haven't been home much lately. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather so I can enjoy some local riding. I'm in Florida now and we had just about perfect weather all the way here. I'm hoping things hold up for another two weeks until I get home. :2thumbs:

Well..!!

I think I will keep my mouth shut...!! :roflblack::roflblack: or someone will shut it for me...:ohyea::ohyea:

Ryde

I try to ryde year round and live in the great northwest.....my only problem is I hate getting wet and in the winter we get a lot of that wet stuff falling out of the sky. We even have a New Years Day ride that has a good turnout. Our toy run is always the 1st Sat in Dec and the turnout for it is between 1k to 8k bikes.

Bob: You get the nasty winter weather before we do here in Vermont. The weather in your area is warmer. Deanna
