Saw three moose on the road about a half mile from my place. Ever wonder why they don't call more than one, meese or something like that? :roflblack::roflblack:
It was the neighborhood mom and she had two yearlings with her. I don't see them very often in summer, but they start showing up in fall. I am guessing she will be in my yard within 24 hours or so for her annual crab apple harvest. I have two apple trees, one for pies, and one for the moose.
It is getting colder by the day. It was 32 on the shady side of my mountain twisty ride--felt like 10 below. :roflblack: There was some black ice beginning to form. The ponds and the slow channels in the river are now hard frozen. Saw a car in the ditch and up a tree. No occupants, so guessing it happened sometime since yesterday PM. I cut the speed back 10 - 15 mph just to make sure I stayed in control. A balmy 37 degrees on the "sunny" side of the mountains. Still felt like 10 below. :roflblack: Note to self. Balaclava goes on and the winter grade socks go on before the boots for the next ride. It was cold, but has not turned into an "endurance ride" as of yet. I much appreciate the heated handgrips.
I rolled over to 9100 miles + on todays 65 mile ride to the mailbox. I did not see even one other motorcycle on my trip. I saw one yesterday, and he waved at me like I was a long lost friend.
How many more rides? Depends. Supposed to get rain/snow mix on Saturday (80%). 1000 ft and higher will get more white. I ride until snow and ice comes to my side road--or it gets cold enough to become "endurance riding." Time will tell.
