• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

O ring for oil change?

Had my oil changed at the Dealer. Noticed that the only parts that was listed that they used was 1. oil filter $23.35 & 2. oil 4qt $53.68. total $77.03. Seems like they did not change the o ring. I have an se5. Does the o ring need to be replaced for each oil change. Did they forget something???

While a few people here who have done their own oil changes have said they've re-used them if they still looked perfect, or have turned them over and re-used them, the service manual procedure for both models says:

NOTICE: Never reuse the drain plug sealing washer. Always replace it with a new one.

and:

3. Install a NEW O-ring on the oil filter cover.

So I woud expect the dealer to do so.

My dealer charged $1.99 and $.90 for those, respectively.

The specified procedure is to change the O-ring and both crush washers. For an SE5 having the trans filter changed, I believe there is an additional o-ring and another filter. The O-rings and crush washers can often be reused if they are carefully inspected and free of defects or hardening. BRP does not approve, however. If you don't have leaks, don't worry about it (unless it was an interval that also required a trans filter change, which they didn't do). At least they didn't charge you for parts they didn't use.

One dealer I tried to buy crush washers from said they don't stock BRP and use bulk washers that they don't even charge for since they are so cheap in bulk. In any case, the change every time instruction is overly conservative. The o-ring should last for many oil changes.
