• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

NUMBER ONE UPGRADE FOR THE SPYDER...

Do a search on this site for "mods" or "upgrades" and go read the My Mods section. The best, most important mod for one person may be totally rediculous and unnecessary for the next. Read a bunch of reviews, find those that appear to use their Spyder in the same way that you plan to, and then decide if their mods might help you.

My favorite mod has been the NoMagicNeon HID headlights because of how much they improve the nightime riding vision but many others have listed some type of handlebar riser, fog lights, brake light upgrade or exhaust as their best mod.

I can think of only three that makes sence, at least to me.
1. 4" riser
2. Bushtec Hitch.
3. F1 !V windshield.... however, wish it were a bit higher. Have to talk to Marcel about trade up..

Yes I have them and they are cool and neccessary for me.

re best

I would have to say my top would be:
#1 Kewl mirror extentions helped correct that blind spot!!
#2 No Magic HID Light's See better at night.(spot those s. tx deer)

These were both Heavy safety concerns in my book. Now I can see way out in front at night and what's behind me at all times.
I Don't think there has been a mod I have bought that I have regreted. Well maybe one the plastic rings for the spoke wheel's.

Thanks,
Vwatso

No Magic HID lights require changing the entire housing? Are these the same as the BRP 1000.00 option or are they simply just a replacement bulb with more of a white light for better visibilty?

HIDs consist of replacement bulbs and HID ballasts. The housing stays the same. Basically its just more of a white light but we first tried some Ultra White standard bulbs from the auto parts store ($40 or $50 for two bulbs) and they seemed kind of white but the HIDs just blow them away. If you look at dltangs youtube vids of the HIDs vs. standard Spyder lights, the standard Spyder lights in those videos were actually the Ultra White upgrade bulbs.

:spyder: What is it?
Can anyone list the top upgrades for a Spyder?
Must haves and why?

bjt's right, you should search around here, and read about a l l the modifications people made.

However, here's my short list:

3 inch handlebar risers (No Magic Neon)
Highway bracket mount + highway pegs (BilletBike Parts)
Mirror extensions (Kewlmetal)
Backrest (BRP)
Micron Pipe (No Magic Neon, but unavailable now)
F1 Shield (Marcel July, but I cut it down a bit)
Roll Bag (Nelson Rigg via NewEnough)
Seat Skin (BRP)

Part of the decision on what mods to do is based on your body size and part is based on what kind of ryding you do. My favorites are:

1) For better frontal visibility during the day and better vision at night
BRP FOG LIGHTS
2) For better rear visibility day and night
Lighted license frame with running and brake lights & Evoluzione Rear Light Mod
3) For long distance comfort (not necessary communting or short trips)
1" BRP Riser, BRP Touring windshield and custom driver floorboards
4) For the joy of bringing my wife with me
Custom Passenger Backrest and Passenger Footpeg Extensions, Autocom Intercom

What is important is up to you. These are just some of my mods, but they are the most important to me.

That little spider web that goes in the radiator vent. :firstplace:

Seriously the 1" extension is my favorite.

For better comfort, I agree 100%. Since I live out in the woods (so to speak :)), the fog lights are essential. They do a really nice job of putting light to the sides, and filling in out front.

new HID & MIRROR EXT

I still say The mirror extentions and the HID are the best mods!

I would think safety and riding comfort first. Ride awhile stock before deciding would be my recommendation.

I haven't done much yet because I am not street legal yet - - probably tomorrow ( I hope).

I have added an adjustable clutch lever - I have small hands.
And I also added rubber coil over spring spacers to improve stock shocks.

O'K and I ordered heavy bar end weights to maybe reduce handlebar vibrations.

O'K and I did order grip puppies to add comfort for stock grips.

I am going to stop now:D

Thats the way it starts. Just one thing, then just one more thing.... :D

i bought every assc for the spyder you can get from BRP except mono rear seat cowl and tank bag&rear seat bag.By far i think the HID's are by far the best. Safety is my biggest cancern at night its like driving in daytime yes that are pricey but so is my life

HID lights...

I agree that more lighting is better...

With the no magic neon HID lights, how easy is the install? I'm not a mechanic (and not even close), but I do fiddle a bit and was able to install the bags, seat cowl, mirror extensions...

Are there directions like those from Lamonster for the mirror extensions...this made the process fast and easy.

thanks...

The NoMagicNeon HIDs are a notch or two above installing the mirror extensions in difficulty. Lamonster did do a pictorial installation thread for those too. Here it is.

bjt....

What do the HIDs run and can anyone who is mechanically inclined get the job done? I have friends with Harleys and they work on their bikes all the time...I saw the video that you or someone else posted...WOW...what a difference in light...better for daytime and nighttime...

Thanks...

"click: $349 according to MagicMan's website. Anyone who is mechanically inclined or anyone that can follow directions that has just a bit of mechanical aptitude will be able to do this. You can probably do it yourself unless you have two left hands and are all thumbs and are dyslexic. You don't have to be a motorcycle mechanic to install these.
