• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ntsb phone call today

NHTSA does not respond to complaints....I have 4 different complaints on same 2013 ST and have never been contacted

True, NHTSA does not respond to complaints, they do respond to Emails, usually within 24 hours. They assign a case number to each one. I don't have the website in front of me but if you go to www.nhtsa.gov & poke around you will find the link to send an Email. Just more ammunition.

2013 RT Heat Problems

so i just got off the phone with the NTSB, the guy asked me questions about my 13 rt and i told him i sold it for a big loss because of the heat problem, i also told him about the money and work i put into it to try to eliminate the heat. he asked me what did i replace it with and when i told him a 14 rt he told me he would like to stop by my house next Wednesday to see my 14 and take heat readings on the bike, he is also seeing other spyder riders on that day to see their bikes so he can compare the heat readings. so i just thought i would let you know they are working on it

Please let me know the best way to add my name to any investigation conducted by NTSB. I purchased my RT last July and the heat was unbearable. Over the winter it was tolerable and sometimes the heat actually felt good. I tried to cruise some beautiful neighborhoods in my small town last night and it was not fun. Even with the foot pegs I still felt a tremendous amount of heat....does not make for an enjoyable ride.

This morning, before it got hot I decided to ride for a few minutes. The first 10 minutes the bike was perfect, just the experience I wanted when I wrote a check for $27,000 plus tax. After 10 minutes, the engine heated up and once again could not wait to get back home.

I would love to buy a 2014 but should it cost me an additional $10,000 to get rid of the heat? Reading all the posts makes me hopeful that enough pressure will be put on BRP to acknowledge the problem and help us.

Right now, tonight, file a complaint at https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/index.xhtml and say exactly what you said in your post. Make sure you describe fully all of the heat issues that you experienced, and be sure to supply your VIN or NTHSA will not take your complaint under advisement. You can also view all complaints, recalls & the ongoing investigation by ODI. Strength in numbers.

I filed my complaint last night with NTSB. Will keep the forum posted if I hear back. The only thing I want out of this is a safe vehicle cool enough to actually enjoy riding. Now I ride it out of guilt over spending $27,000 on a toy that is miserable to ride. Great for a few minutes before the engine warms up.
