• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now that the 2014's have been announced

One thing I have read and may be of interest is that on the sleds the 3 cylinder vibrates...a lot. Enough to numb your hands so let BOB be the test victim..er.. I mean rider for us all for about 6 mo. then we will start to hear all the good OR bad about it. I wonder if the upgraded shocks will fit the '13 as I believe the frames will be the same can Lamont verify that for us due to the shocks on the '13 being so sucky?

new RT

Chupaca and I must have gotten the same info on the new RT's. :clap:They sound pretty cool but like every new roll out I am sure there will be issues and thus I will probably wait for a bit before buying the new RT. I liked what I heard but I try to never buy the new thing the first year. Let them work out the bugs first.:ohyea:

From the BRP site

"
250 Tested at constant speed 62 mph (100 km/h). Fuel mileage may vary among Spyder RT models, personal riding habits, weather conditions, trip length, vehicle condition and
vehicle configuration and other conditions. Up to 202 miles (325 km) tested at constant speed 75 mph (120 km/h). Break-in mileage may vary.

So it doesn't look like many will be seeing the 250 IIRC the tank is not that much larger 1 liter I think. They won't post an estimated MPG but should be required to IMHO. The EPA says my Terrain should get 32 on the highway. Best I ever saw was 28.5 cruise on for hours at 65mph.

You are the second owner of a 2013 RT today that has said that they don't like to buy the new thing the first year. Your RT was the new thing. They were significantly different than the earlier model years.

My take: I bought the 2nd GS to hit AK in 2008 and a Premier Edition RT (#474) in 2010. Both :spyder2:'s never had any major problems that would cause me to refrain from a first year offering. In both cases I even put down deposits 6 months before I even saw either one.

My opinion was changed about that in about Feb 2013 when we started hearing the reports of steering issues and then heat issues from that point forward. I have publicly stated that I would shy away from the 2013's.

I DO have good vibes about the new 2014 RT's and until I hear otherwise, I am currently in favor of making a move. The move is tempered by the fact that I have to wait until April or so.

Lucky for you that by April plenty of us should have a bunch of miles on the 2014 and can give you feedback. I hope to be at least halfway to the first service by April.

We know you better than that. If you get delivery in December, you should have your first service before New Years. A low mileage rider you ain't! :roflblack:

Am I missing something here

Bob, if the new Spyders are not going to be delivered until November, why are you getting rid of your bike now? Did you trade it or did someone buy it off you?

I know but with the new longer service interval I thought it might take me a couple of months anyway.

We buy these Spyders to ride...in 3 months I had 7500 miles then all the issues started....hope this time we can get the good stuff done and I can ride again...Mark may not see me for awhile...who would like a visit...I'm open to any direction

You wouldn't like it up here now that it's getting cold. Wait 'til Spring. By then it will be getting warmer (and greener) and the new house may be done. :D

I,m Not Hearing Loads of Glowing reports from test drivers BUT then again those "Glowing Reports" of the 2013 model from test drivers did not pan out for MANY with the Heat Problems that seriously Diminish the value of affected 2013 RT,s and ST,s????

Facts are facts- Its Projected 115 HP Is only 9 more HP than many of us that own the 08-12 GS/RS model AND its Like 315 Pounds heavier Soo the Fastest Model will still be the OLD GS/RS as far as acceleration and Top Speed!!

I think it adds a Lot of what Touring Riders want But for people who do Afternoon rides most of the time I see No Big need to go into more dept until we get some "Real Model" Feedback and the Prices drop Next Oct-Nov 2014?? Thats when I would buy one-No Until!!:yikes:

Can't wait to change my -11 for a new one (even if I am happy with mine but for the lack of power, too high rpm at hwy speed and ridiculous range). I love 3 cylinders (had/have Kawies, Triumph/BSAs, Laverda, Yamaha (that was a bad one!) as I think they are real balanced. Funny to see how the newest of the newest always scare people!!!
