• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

now isn't this vincent pretty

Sharp..

Brings back memories of all the old English bike I grew up with in south america..where they still run today:thumbup:

If you Vincent Egli, here is my 2005 replica by Godet (France).... A big disappointment but a very beautiful bike!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359782520.870922.jpg

Too many problems:
15 miles: valve collar broke
800 miles: alternator dead
1500 miles: fork stuck in bottom position
2000 miles: clutch/primary bolts broke, all of them
2200: another alternator

It is not as nice to ride as my Commando, the builder is a major a$$; price is ridiculous... Where do I stop??
For a bike I was dreaming of since I met my first Vincent 43 years ago, it is indeed a big disapointment!!

Your new/old one is just trying to be as accurate as possible in how it acts...
Ride for a day
Wrench for three hours
Wait for parts...

Repeat as often as you can stand it...

You've got it confused...that's the drill for snowmobiles. For Brit bikes it's...

Ride for three hours
Wrench for a day
Fabricate parts
Wrench for another day...

Repeat as often as you can stand it... :roflblack:

I was never mechanic enough to own a Brit bike--but I thought they were pretty cool way back when. Loved the Triumph Bonneville 650's (I think that was the right cc's?).

Silly me! :opps: You're absolutely right!

Remember the Tee-Shirts: "Lighting by Lucas; the Prince of Darkness" :gaah:

And then there's the old question: "Why to the Brits drink their beer warm?"
Answer: Lucas also made refrigerators! :roflblack:

This is my '65 Bonneville.

I think the usual BS about British bike does not apply to the problems I had with this Egli: alternator is French (Alton), clutch is Ducati etc. Vincent are the Hondas of British bikes: almost as boring and almost as reliable... And with all the probs I had with my RT it feels like Canada is still entirely British!!!!

The "Modern Classic" Triumph provides evidence of major improvements over the last 40 years. Electrics are no longer a problem, the 900cc engines are counter balanced, so the vibrations are not as much of an issue as in the past, and they don't leak oil anymore.
It's not a Spyder by any stretch on the imagination, but I still enjoy my "farkled" 09 Bonneville, almost as much as the Spyder.

The new Triumphs are a pretty far cry from those of the 60's and 70's. I looked at a fire engine red 2300cc triple when I was in my "big bike" mode. That bike was so powerful that when blipping the throttle, the torque actually made the bike want to lean over to one side. I did not take that one out on the road because I had the feeling that was more than I wanted in a bike.

Here ya go Bob, I'm working on figuring out this picture thing.
