• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now I really wish that I could say that....

.....I shot this! But I didn't.
Never mind, it's beautiful. A 4K drone mounted camera at The Leas in Folkestone.
Folkestone is one of the original 19th century seaside resorts in England.
Please enjoy this. The bigger the screen you have the better it'll look!

Hi OJ UK,

Re: A 4K drone mounted camera

It would seem as though your national aviation authority is more lenient that our FAA.

Brings back memories

Thanks OJ for bringing back childhood memories. Had several relatives in Folkestone and would visit periodically and sometimes stay there. I found another video on Youtube "Welcome to Folkestone" with pictures of the old Rotunda amusement area near the harbour. Still remember the motorboats and the dodgems! And the penny machines. Good times for a kid.

Thanks!!

Beautiful scenery and awesome flying by the operator!

Rule breaker.

JerryB. This clip breaks every rule laid down by the British CAA. As in the USA people like this are causing loads of proplems for all legitamate, safe model fliers.

Well I didn't know that! So I've just taken a look at the CAA drone guidelines and the only rule I believe that he has broken is the 150ft. from people requirement. But if the area is clear when you take off and people subsequently move closer to see what you're doing then there's not a lot that can be done. The child is part of his party so the rule doesn't apply.
I doubt whether he exceeded the permitted altitude as the guidelines state that the maximum is 400ft. above where you are standing (Not ASL) and I also don't believe that the drone left his line of (unaided) sight.
As you appear to have some expertise in this field and the gentleman is committing a criminal offence then you must report it to the CAA in the interests of the hobby.
I shall not, however, remove the link as it's on social media and You Tube but thank you so much for pointing out the error of his ways.

Hi OJ UK,

Re: the guidelines state that the maximum is 400ft. above where you are standing

Disclaimer: I was not there.

However, having been at exactly 400 AGL over a 1,000 times, it sure looks like he is well over 400 ft at about the 35 second point in the video. And I may be 100% incorrect.

They were great shots. I break the law all the time, and cover it up with a VPN; so, I don't care. Just keep posting those great shots.

Hi wyliec,

Re: I break the law all the time

This reminds me of a tv program back in the 1950's: Truth or Consequences

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_or_Consequences

This contestant had to go 24 hours without breaking any laws. He failed; anyone know what law he broke?

PS) He opened a pack of cigarettes & failed to destroy the federal tax stamp that was on the top of every pack. The actual federal req'd. that the user destroy the stamp.
