• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

NOVEL IDEA - FOR ALL WHO ASK QUESTIONS

BLUEKNIGHT911

Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
I have begun to wonder why people here take the time to answer questions asked by others .....There seems to be a lot of ...QUESTION ASKERS ...who either don't APPEAR to come back or if they do - don't bother to acknowledge the people who took the time to try and Help them......I don't think a lengthy personal message to each one is needed...but it would be NICE if you checked the Thank you :) in the lower left corner. Then we know you at least read the post. This IMHO is just proper etiquette :coffee:...........Thank you.........Mike .......... Wow, what a response , thanks to all who have indicated a "like" or "thanks"......this thread may set a record......Mike

But do not expect a response right away. The person asking the question may not be back on line for a while (work, family, trip, etc). Or perhaps they are checking their Spyder to see if the information (answer) makes sense or will help them.:)

Good point Mike. I have wondered the same, but tend to try to be helpful to all who ask something that I know about.

Similar to good/bad dealer posts. We always hear about the bad but a lot of times, the good ones get nada.

I certainly can agree with Mike, that some sort of "conclusion" to the issue, is a nice thing to hear about.
Some folks just aren't hard-wired to give anything back; that's a shame...

I'm willing to bet that a few simply join to post questions, get the replies, and never plan to respond with the resolutions. Just like any other forum I suppose. Some people don't check the forums every day like a lot of us do either. All ya can do is offer up the advice and hope to be acknowledged in some way, but certainly don't EXPECT to be. It's all good. Just respond knowing that you helped someone out, somehow. It's a new day now where many of the good things we do from day to day go un-acknowledged.
"Respect" is now a word that many don't understand, can't spell, or just have none of. Yet they expect it in return. It's all good:popcorn:

Gratefulness is a nobel attribute to have in a forum such as this, or life in general. But not all people possess this trait, or possibly forget to apply it. I don't get upset when a driver doesn't acknowledge me when I wave him to change lanes in front of me, or if I help someone with a question on a forum. The reward is simply knowing that you did a good turn for another human being, not seeking their gratitude.

Mike, thank you for this post!

Mike

I'm a moderator on a Cub Cadet forum (my other hobby) and we call them one and done members. They only join the forum to get an answer and then you never hear from them again. The guy that runs the forum has a saying that hit's home. Get the parts, come to my house, fix my tractor and leave $20.00 on the counter. Sad but it seems to be the way the younger generation is going.:banghead:

:agree: A favor is when we do something to someone, not
expecting anything in return!
My satisfaction comes when I know I have help someone, even if they don't acknowledge me! I've always believe that when we give anything expecting something back, it becomes an exchange!
But, I feel you! Because I reckon that is always good to show some gratitude, but in my case is not required! Keep up the good work!

Ah.....

But they are fast to critize or disagree if things don't go there way. I do like to see when they come back and just post SOLD, or I got her going or it's in the shop. I will still answer and help in any way I can regardless. But it would be nice...

I agree Lou, but I also know you answer to a HIGHER POWER ;) ;) ;)   :lecturef_smilie:........Mike  :roflblack:, I just had to say it.

I think that is because respect is not taught to kids anymore, like it used to be. There seems to be no time for it in many homes today or in the schools. CERTAINLY not on university campuses. There kids are taught today that if someone disagrees with what the professors think, they should be subject to ridicule, disrespect, and even violence at times. So sad. :sour:

Correct

I'm fairly new to Spyderlovers and to Spyders so I read a lot of posts as a learning process and have asked a few questions. I always thank someone for a post or like a post when someone is nice enough to share their knowledge and thoughts. If it's my question I certainly owe them a thanks. If it is something written on another question that may help my thought process someday then I thank them for the post or like their post. So many common sense things and etiquette have been lost in today's world.

Rob I agree with what you are saying however I don't think the AGE thing is applicable on this forum....The majority left childhood so far behind it isn't even a Memory..:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:..........Mike :bbq:

IMHO its more because of the majority of the canned "take it to your dealer" type responses or lack of real help that seems to populate most of the threads. There are a lot of tech questions asked on here where the answers are really no help.

There is more real tech going on behind the scenes via PM and email.

Mike, like or thank? I went back and liked all the replies. I didn't realize this was proper etiquette here. I'm not a Facebook person so the things on the bottom are new.

Should I go and thank them all in addition?!? Just confused.

Thank you for your time and your responses to my posts and anyone else who you think might not be appreciative, even though we are.
