There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Not everyone can drive a Spyder.

Conch Republic

I live in the Conch Republic. At one time we where part of Florida until the Border Patrol established a border here in Key Largo.:joke:

When I lived in Atlanta, we saw lots of Florida plate on cars of those who "moved north" for the summer. On the Atlanta freeways, they were known as "Floridiots!" ;)
OMG!!!

Are you saying that, "If the Georgia-Florida state line were moved 10 miles north, it would increase the average IQ of both states"? :yikes:

(Don't blame me... I'm further south than everybody north of Hialeah!)

HD MentalIty?

Sometimes you really have to wonder about the mentalities of some HD riders. Since 1955 when I officially started my motorcycling hobby I have experienced a lot of them. I liked your comments, for a Spyder Ryder you're all right (LOL).

One of my parking lot experiences was a guy came upand started a conversation about how futuristic it looked. Then he asked "do you like it? To which I had to say "I yes if I had not i would not have bought it!" He muttered something like "I guess I deserved that one!"

you can always tell a HD rider that says he wouldn't own a Spyder "that's good that means I can continue riding mine."

Hey, I just noticed something...
That USA map that shows where ryders have ryded, doesn't include the Conch Republic! :dontknow:

Nice tweak to one of my favorite quotes..thanks, Will Rogers. Yesiree!

I always like to see the "hard core biker" types pulling their factory HD Customs on a trailer with a $40,000 Pick Up to a rally. And then telling me at the same rally (which I rode to) that I am not a real motorcyclist due to my riding a Spyder!

I have ridden bikes for over 40 years and I respect other riders regardless of the brand or type bike they ride until given reason not to. I really do not understand the anamosity that some riders seem to have in regards to Spyder riders. I wonder if that is also the case with regular trikes such as Goldwings and all the other conversions out there? The only thing that really gets my goat is being somewhere and some bike guys walk buy and you can tell they are making a conserted serious effort to totally ignore the spyder and look away as if it doesn't exist. They won't make eye contact. Usually this happens with two or more guys, if it is a lone rider he has a totally different additude and is interested in the spyder at least to the point of saying hello and having a short disscussion. I think most spyder riders are not the "weekend warrior" types or the "bar hopper" riders. Most of us can't wait to ride any day we can and the longer the distance the better. We don't need to be in a group to do a weekend ride in order to make a statement. When we do ride with others, we enjoy the ride and the friendships, no pretentions of being something we are not. We don't need to judge others in order to make us feel bigger or superior in some way. There is nothing wrong with leather and patches but we don't need them to fit in. We even go to the store sometimes to buy something we may not need, just to ride there. Anyway that's my thoughts, I feel better. Think I'll ride to the store for something I don't need.:ohyea:

At a stop light today in northern Flarda (mouthpiece description). A guy yells at me.......I have had two of those Spyders...put 300 miles on one and 30 miles on the other.... went out and bought a HD. buy a Harley he says... I simply said not everyone can handle a Spyder.

I have to wonder if the guy had any clue of how stupid he sounded? His "story" is beyond ridiculous. Bought 2 Spyders? 300 miles then 30? How could he expect anyone to believe such nonsense? It's the kind of silly BS you get from a 4th grader. No... Make that a 3rd grader. By 4th grade they are usually smarter than that. Also I'm guessing he was in a car at the time.

BTW.. As with many riders on here, I previously owned Harley's and put a lot of miles on each one. They are good bikes! I liked the sound and the looks of them and the Ultra Classics weren't bad for long distant riding. That's why I kept buying them. However in 2009 I moved up to a Goldwing. IMHO, a really great bike and much better than any HD I owned.

However, now I own a Spyder! I honestly don't feel that it can be, or should be, compared to any two wheeled motorcycle. It a whole different animal. And a most outstanding one at that.

Look at it this way.....guys like this instantaneously tell you what they are all about and unless or until they disprove it....it'll stick.

It's been said for a very long time and will be true for many years to come "It takes all kinds to make this world go round".

I hadn't rode a motorcycle since before I was married.
And I knew there was no way my wife would get on one with me.
But when I showed her a spyder video, and she said " I could do that", well... that's all she wrote
So now we have a spyder, and my wife and I are having a blast.

If it was up to me, we'd be on a nice two wheel touring machine.
But, she's my favorite riding partner, and best friend.
So I'm very thankful for this unique machine.

I wonder how many of us are in the same boat? My wife would not get on my Sportster or Softail. She would ride on the Classic and Ultra Classic, and was even more comfortable on the Goldwing, but she just did not like all the leaning and feeling of a two wheeler. Now she loves the Spyder. Don't get me wrong, I love the Spyder too and for all the same reasons as the rest of you! It's just that my wife of 44 years really is my best friend and just like Flabound, we are having a blast!

It's worth the Ryde

Hey, I just noticed something...
That USA map that shows where ryders have ryded, doesn't include the Conch Republic! :dontknow:

Of all the places to Ryde in Florida. I will have to say the Conch Republic is by far the most beautiful place to Ryde. It has been discovered by Harley's, but I see Spyders mixed with Harley's all the time Ryding together.
Its my understanding that Texas is also a bit of a Republic also.:doorag:

I was in a simillar situation. Wanted to get back on a bike after many years off. Wife would not ride on two, didn't really want me on one but conceded. I thought it wouldn't be right me out riding and her not. Looked at and test drove the Tri Glide, did not like the feel of it or the handling. Nothing against Harleys at all, just didn't like the Tri Glide. Looked at Wing trikes, but the cost was way out there. Even used ones. And, the dealer wouldn't let me test drive one. I like Honda bikes. Saw the show on Speed Channel (i think) with Fred Rau riding Hwy 101 in California on the "new" RT. Was impressed. Looked at one at a dealer, researched, took the wife to look. The rest is history.

I usually just try and ignore those twits, but one kept at it. Finannly I said, I could not ride a Harley. He puffed and started to say something. I broke in to say, I gave up my CDL forlarge, oversize, heavyweight vehicles and bought a fun machine. He started to get mad, but several other bikers, including some HD, laughed. We had talked about spyders before, many said, they would seriouly consider Spyders, when/if they had to go to three wheels. Twit decided to leave. I alway have felt, it is not what you ride, but if you ride. Oldmanzues

With my 2011 broken down and in the shop again for the past 3 weeks I kinda know how he feels, lol.......Luckly the weather has not been all that grea..(today is perfect riding weather though) so I got a lot of little chores done around the house.
